'THOMAS!!' I screamed at him in relief, I couldn't believe this telepathy thing was working.
'Ethan!!! How..?' he asked, his voice calming me down with every word.
'I'll explain later, where are you?' I asked.
'Outside a club or something. We're in an alleyway, there are trucks...' he said.
'I'm coming' I replied, cutting him off before pushing and shoving my way through the crowd.
'How long was I out? What did I miss? How did he get out?' I thought to myself, questions swirling inside my head like a raging hurricane.
I finally reached the door and flung it open and ran up the stairs, not bothering to close the door or look behind me to see if I was being followed. I reached the top of the stairs and saw Thomas standing in among the other Gladers, Brenda and Jorge. Thomas looked up at me before running over to me and pulling me into a tight hug.
'I'm so glad you're okay,' he whispered as he pressed his face into the crevace between my shoulder and neck, I stood there in our hug not saying a word, wishing this moment would last for eternity.
Thomas was the first to pull away. He looked me straight in the eye and stared, I looked deep into his, searching for any evidence that the memory I saw of us together was true. I fell deeper and deeper into his eyes, losing myself as I stared. The world seemed to disappear, it must have been only a few second but it felt like hours before Newt snapped me out of it.
'Wakey wakey Ethan!' he laughed as he shook his hand in front of my face.
I blinked at least a dozen times before looking at Thomas.
'Are you okay?' he asked in my head, this was going to take some getting used to.
'Yeah, just.....I'll tell you later, when we have some privacy' I replied.
Thomas nodded before walking over to the group again. I hadn't realised but Minho had been talking. Something about running and fighting Cranks before a yell echoed through the alley. I turned and saw a man with short blonde hair holding a gun. Before I could even blink, he shot it. A loud bang caused my ear to ring before it registered with me where it hit, I turned and saw Thomas collapse, his left shoulder bloody. I immediately ran to him, ignoring the other bang, grunts and punches then metal clanging on the concrete of the alley coming from behind me. I lifted Thomas off his face and flipped him over to his back gently, he gripped his shoulder in pain. I heard the ringing in my ears begin to dull as I saw out of the corner of my eye the man with the gun get tackled and Minho beat the living crap out of him. Thomas looked down at his shirt and immediately I saw the shock on his face, the fact he had been shot finally register, recognise the sight of blood. I looked down at his shoulder, a hole in the fleshy part just above his armpit was oozing blood. It looked extremely painful. Newt was on Thomas's right, looking down with worried eyes.
'He shot me...' Thomas managed to say.
I handed a shirt to Newt and he pressed it against the wound. Thomas cried out in pain and I felt like I had been punched in the cheest. Seeing him in pain caused me pain. I ignored everything everyone else was saying and reached out to Thomas. I only heard one thing escape his thoughts.
'Pass out. Please pass out, make it go away.' Thomas wimpered, his agony striking me in the chest and making my heart skip a beat.
I helped lift him up and heard him wimper before his body went limp. He was still breathing, he had passed out.
