Kriiiing! Kriiing!
Urgh. Wakey-wakey to me. I pushed my blanket aside and walk to the sliding door and step out of my room to the balcony. The wind blew strongly that make my dishevelled hair worsen.
"What a nice view."I smiled approvingly. The pool water seems like it is glittering under the rising sun. The trees that surrounds our mansion sway lightly to the wind. Hmph. Home is indeed sweet home.
But I need to hurry. I got school to go anyway. School. Even saying that word in my head made me shiver. Whatever. Time to take a bath.
......
"Kathy! I'm just considering about waking you up. Apparently, not anymore. Come and join me for breakfast."my mother looked up from the newspaper and pat the chair next to her.
"Sure."I took a seat and put a slice of homemade raspeberry pie in my plate. I chomped the pie gratefully. Yum.
"Honey, do you want to go with me to the cocktail party, later?"my mom asked flatly as if she's asking me if I want an ice cream.
"Do I have a choice?"I asked when I know the answer. Of course not.
"No, you don't. Oh, come on. It's a party. Doesn't kid your age love parties?"she asked trying to assure me, I think. A party? More like I- need-a-business-partner-party. Hmph. This kind of thing only meant for the rich to get to know other rich people to invest or whatever in their business or to try to search for any rival. Duh.
"Fine. I'm going. What about Ethan?"I asked.
"Oh. He will be going too. He's my son after all........anyway, you need to wear decent clothes."she paused before the last comment making me clenched my jaw in frustation. I've been to those party more than I could count.
"Mom, what makes you think I don't know what decent clothes is?"I asked while gritting my teeth. I'm offended, okay?
"No need to be so snappy. I'm just sayin' it from the way you dress these days. And I've bought you a dress. And no more words coming out from your mouth. I'm in hurry. Bye."she planted a kiss on top of my head before heading outside.
Great. I maybe would look like one of those sophisticate old woman with fancy jewelleries. I sighed in frustration before heading out to school too.
......
"Hey, Erica. Eric."I nod to both of them in our Biology class. I seat beside Erica and slumped in my chair.
"Why are you so moody?"she asked with one raise eyebrow.
"Well, I need to go to these party with my mom and she already bought me a dress. I don't know which one is worse. The dress or the party."I said.
"Maybe if you hear this news, you would consider the third suggestion for which one's worse?"
"What is it about?"
"Well....you actually would not get any date for prom."I wanted to cut in before she said"the rumors is all over the school! Even about the part where you almost kill Lydia. Now every boy think you will kill them and some who doesn't think of anything was warned by Lydia not to ask you on a date."she said too fast but I still get it. That bitch.
"Whatever. There's a lot of guy in this whole wide world. She couldn't possibly tell all of them."I said.
"True. But..."she stopped when she saw Mr. Hammis walked in."We'll talk later."which means tomorrow since this is my last class and not theirs.
......
"Mom, this dress is too tight and I hate it."I whined.
I look at the knee-length black lace dress from Terani that made me look gothic. Even the long sleeve is made out of lace. But I honestly think this dress is badass. I mean, look at it. It made me look sophisticate in not a I-want-to-be-a-partner-in-your-company kind. It give me a good impression.
