As Renji was about to go in me we heard a knocking on the door. Our hearts stopped beating.

"Quickly get dressed."
We got up and scattered to get our clothes back on.

"Lieutenant Abarai I need to speak with you."
It was Byakuya. Of all the people.

" Just a minute sir!" Renji called in reply.

We got dressed and I pulled up a chair next to Renji's desk as he sat down pretending to do work.
"Come in sir."
Byakuya entered.

"What did you want to talk about sir?"
He paused for a minute.

" I just wanted to tell you that be prepared to become a captain. The Vizard captains may no longer wish to be in the 13 Court Guard Squads."

"Really? You mean?"

"Yes, you may have to become a captain."

"Thank you sir! I will be ready!"
He nodded and walked away. As soon as he was far enough away we started laughing.

"That was close."

" To close. But it was funny."

"Yeah."

Byakuya POV

They were just doing paper work. As I thought. I don't know what else I was thinking could have happened. But the look on Rukia's face. And Renji's for that matter. They weren't focused on paper work. It was something else. It was the look that Hisana and I had. I froze.

"No it was just paper work."
