I was drifting in a black abyss, a whole world full of nothing not even sound. A shiver radiated through my body. There is nothing creepier than the dark, ironically it makes up one of my biggest fears- anything I cannot see.
Fire erupted in the middle of the nothingness, forming a tall mans silhouette. As the fire died down, the man became more detailed. He had black curly hair with black eyes, maybe to match the atmosphere. He seemed to glow with a kind of golden light as he walked closer. The thing that stuck out most about him was his suit, which looked very nice and very expensive.
"I'm sorry if I startle you, I tend to have that effect on people," the man said stopping a few feet in front of me.
"It's not you that I'm afraid of," I say inching closer to get a better look at him. "I can see you. It's all the things that I can't see that make me nervous."
"Ah, but the scariest things are the things that are there in front of you," he pulled a wine glass out of the air that filled automatically with the red liquid.
"Who are you?"
He took the now empty glass away from his lips. "You don't know who I am?"
"No," I say a little quieter.
"Hm, well, I know who you are," the glass disappeared from his hand.
"Who am I?"
A smug grin spread across his face. I tried really hard to hold back the shiver that was wanting to snake it's way up my spine.
"You, my dear, are Clover Daniels."
My name reverberated around me like a shout in a big cave. The man vanished in a flash of light leaving me with the dark and the unknown.
"Clover Daniels!" It echoed. "Clover Daniels!"
I sat up, awake. My heart was beating furiously in my chest. People were everywhere, walking back and forth across the room.
A teenage boy stopped by my bead holding a clip board. He was tall with sandy blonde hair that was cut military style and dark blue eyes. I couldn't remember who he looked like.
"Where am I?"
"The camp infirmary, turn you head, please."
I turned my head the right watching as he examined me. His finger barely touched my head, but it was enough to send a shock of pain through me.
"Well, the stitches have almost dissolved, you might be sore for a couple more days though," he went back to writing on his clip board.
"What happened to me?"
His blue eyes met mine. "Three griffins followed you into the camp. You were knocked out while saving some of the other campers. It doesn't surprise me that you don't remember, you were hit pretty hard."
Yep, that was definitely me, the person who made a fool of herself while trying to do the right thing.
"You weren't awake long enough for us to get your name."
My dream came back to me in amazing clarity.
"Clover Daniels, my name is Clover Daniels," I don't know why, but just like my dream I repeated my name.
"Andy Riley," he said thrusting out a hand for me to shake. "Nice to finally meet you, Mystery Girl."
My head fell into my hands in embarrassment. "Oh, no, that's not what people are calling me, is it?"
Andy nodded his head. "Yep, welcome to Camp Jupiter, where news travels faster than a fat man to the bottom of the ocean."
Not until that moment did I notice his armor, purple t-shirt, blue jeans, and a scabbard that was home to a dagger.
