Chapter Five
Damon held my hand as we made our way toward the giant house with the loud music. I gripped his hand tightly and looked around at the perfectly groomed gardens nervously. I really didn’t fit in here with all of this fancy stuff. I knew that and I haven’t even seen any of the people, yet. Damon opened one of the grand doors and held it open for me. As soon as I walked into the giant corridor that was there as soon as you walked in. The corridor was full of people talking and socializing. Music blasted through the room at ear bursting volumes.
Everyone around me seemed to be dressed in the same style as me. It didn’t look like I really stuck out very much. I had a very big feeling that it wouldn’t last very long. Music was something I had always liked, but not this heavy rock type of music. I liked the more pop music, but this was just….loud. Everyone else was also dancing and that was one thing Megan King never did. Melody was a part of a lot of dance teams, but not me. I would probably just end up humiliating myself.
“Damon!” As soon as we took at the most three steps into the house many people swarmed around us. I looked around at all the people smiling and talking at once. Damon still kept a tight hold on my hand even as he shook a boy’s hand.
“Erik, this is Megan.” Damon looked at the boy and then at me, still smiling. I smiled politely at the boy who smiled and nodded at me.
“Megan……?” He asked looking for my last name
“King,” I answered, he didn’t answer in till about a minute later.
“I know your sister, Melody.” He told me, smiling. “I only thought she had that one little sister, Macy , is it” Great, so my sister talked about Macy more than me. That just shows how much I was socially known around.
“Most people do.” I smiled and ignored the part about Macy.
So that’s how it started. Damon and I walked around and he introduced me to everyone he knew, which seemed like everyone. Everyone was polite for the most part and said hello to me. They asked me how old I was and where I was from. Damon held my hand the whole time and every now and then kissed the top of my head. I’m pretty sure when I was over getting him a bottle of water he told a few people that I was his girlfriend, because on my way back they kept looking at me and giggling. I didn’t really care for some reason because I guess in a way I really was his girlfriend. I mean, how could it get even more different from here?
“Megan, let’s go out back.” Damon told me once we were done talking. I smiled and nodded as he led me away just like things had gone the whole other half of the night. I think some people tried to follow us out, but for some reason they never did. Damon led me outside where I was even more impressed with the house. The outside had a huge in ground pool and hot tub. The backyard was giant and starched on for miles. There was a patio and pool table to the right that Damon led me. Then he led me out past the pool and toward the grassy area. He sat down and patted the spot next to him. I sat next to him and let my curls blow softly in the wind.
“Why did we come out here?” I asked, looked out over the lake that was behind the house framed by trees.
“I just wanted some alone time with you. It’s so loud and noisy in there and I hardly get to talk to you.” He answered looking at me as I looked ahead. I looked over at him and smiled slightly. One of my curls blew in front of my face slightly and Damon reached out and brushed it away. I smiled and blushed, looking down at the green grass. I looked back up at him and he smiled at me before leaning back so he was lying down on the grass. I gave him a funny look, but lay back with him. He squeezed my hand as we both looked up at the dark sky.
“It’s beautiful.” I whispered as stars twinkled throughout the sky. I turned my body so I was facing Damon and he did the same.
“It’s almost as beautiful as you.” I blushed and he stroked my cheek with his thumb.
“You’re crazy.” I told him, reaching and taking his hand “There are tons of girls out there who are prettier and better than me. Why would you choose me?”
“You’re not like those other girls. They are all so…..predictable. With you, though, I never know what you’re going to say or do, and I have to admit, I like that.” I think that’s what really got me. Damon sounded so sincere. He leaned forward and kissed my forehead.
“You really mean that?” I asked, feeling like I was about to cry.
“Every word.” He whispered and leaned forward and instead of kissing my forehead his lips pressed gently against my own. I had about a five second reaction time before I finally kissed back. It was over like that. He pulled back and pulled me close to him so my head was against his chest. I wrapped my arms around him and smiled. The first date and I already had the first kiss. I probably should have thought that he was taking things too far for the first date, but I really didn’t care right now.
So we just laid there talking about random things and pointed out stars and shadows. It was like the whole party was nothing and we were just anywhere. It was amazing how Damon could make me feel lie him and I were the only ones for miles. I had my head on his shoulder and he was stroking my hair softly and we just…talked. It felt just like I was a natural at all of this, and even I admit that I wasn’t even close to that.
It was different, and I think I liked it….a lot.
