                                                Chapter Four

“Megan! Get up here now.” Melody yelled from upstairs. I was just walking into the house from school. I didn’t know how Mel always ended up getting here before me. Well, today I did understand why. Damon held me up in the parking lot. I did have to admit he was really sweet. He told me to wear something dressy, but in a casual way. I really hoped Megan knew what that meant because I was completely clueless. I threw my bag on the coach and made my way upstairs. Melody was upstairs in her room, looking through her closet.

“Good afternoon to you to, sis.” I told her, plopping down on her bed with my phone. I had been texting Damon since we left each other in the parking lot.

“Well, it took you long enough. I came here early to help you and you end up coming an hour later than you normally do. What took you so long?” She instantly knew the answer when the question left her perfectly lip glossed mouth. A smirk crossed her face and she squealed and sat next to me.

“Melody, please.” I groaned, putting my arm a crossed my eyes. I heard my sister giggle and she pulled me back up.

“I just can’t believe my sister is finally going to stop being so uptight and have some fun.” I rolled my eyes at my sister’s usual perkiness.

“Mel, chill. I’m going on a date not getting married.” I told her.

“Exactly. That almost never happens. Oh, wait, it really never happens.” I sighed as Melody looked through her closet.

“Why can’t I wear my own clothes?” I asked her, Melody and I wore the same size in everything so she was constantly trying to get me to wear her clothes. I quite liked my jeans and t-shirts.

“Have you seen your closet? I just looked through it before you got home, Megan. There is no way I am letting you go on a date with anything in that closet on your body. One of my friends heard that Damon told you to wear something formal casual. I have three outfits that would fit perfectly for that. You’re going to try all three on and show them to me.” Melody started pulling articles of clothing from her closet. I sighed and rolled my eyes. I should have known Melody knew every word of what Damon had said to me today. My sister had always been that sneaky.

“Okay.” I said finally, standing up “Let’s get this over with.”

So there it begins. Melody had exactly three outfits full of torture. She made me try on three of them over and over again because she kept forgetting what each one looked like on me. So finally after one very long hour I was finally done with picking an outfit. I had to admit I really did like it. Melody picked out a pair of white skinny jeans and paired with  an orange and black dress shirt that only went over one shoulder. I really was uncomfortable with it because of it showing so much skin. Melody told me to get over it, though.  She forced me into some of her sandals that wrap around the ankle, they were black as well. The jewelry was simple at least. The necklace was black and shaped like a star; personally I think I liked it. The bracelet was one of those bracelets that looked like a bunch put together, but it was really only one piece. It was silver on the sides, but had black jewels in the middle. Melody now stood in front of me, smiling like an idiot.

“It’s perfect!” She squealed, “Now we have one hour to do your make-up and hair. Oh, I have a perfect hair style I’m going to do on you. “Melody squeaked and took my hand, dragging me to her bathroom. She sat me down on the toilet and plugged in her curling iron. She turned my head so I was facing the wall and the back of my head was facing my older sister. She started taking pieces of hair and doing some kind of braid with them. When she was done she pretty much stabbed my head with a billion bobby pins. Then she curled my hair.

When she was finally finished I was so stiff with hairspray I felt like I was carrying bricks on my head. Melody said the hairspray just had to settle a little bit and it wouldn’t feel as heavy. She turned me toward her and admired her work before getting started on my makeup. She really didn’t put a lot on, just some lip gloss, and eyeliner, and mascara.

“You’re finally done! I have to say this is the best you have ever looked.” Melody exclaimed as I looked at myself in the mirror. I really did different and I think I liked it. It was actually kind of refreshing knowing I could actually look pretty. Melody squealed as the doorbell rang and I started to get nervous. What if everything went wrong? I grabbed the black clutch Melody let me borrow and slowly made my way down stairs. I took a deep breath and opened the door and smiled at Damon. His dark eyes caught mine and we both smile. He was wearing dark jeans and a white t-shirt. His dark eyes scanned over me and he smiled

“You look beautiful.” I blushed as soon as the words left his mouth. He smiled and reached over and took my hand ‘Are you ready?” I smiled and nodded and that was that. He started leading me towards his car. I knew Melody was looking out one of the windows squealing and texting her friends about her younger sister going out with the hottest boy in the school. Damon opened the door to his car for me and helped me in like a gentlemen before getting into the driver’s seat.

“Long time no see.” He said as he started backing out of the driveway. I laughed and brushed a curl out of my face.

“I know.” I told him, smiling. Oh, if only my nerves would calm down this would have been perfect. I looked over at Damon who just happened to be glancing at me. I looked away and out through my window, probably blushing like a tomato. If you couldn’t tell by now blushing was a really bad habit of mine.

“You don’t have to be nervous around me, Megan.” Damon’s voice was like a big pot of chocolate. It drifted toward me and I looked at him and smiled slightly

“I’m not nervous.”  I told him, smiling. “So, where are we going?”

“A party, my friends from when I used to live here a while ago.” There were going to be other people? Oh no, hopefully I wouldn’t make a complete fool of myself. It probably would though, because I’m just that good.  It only took about ten minutes to get there and once we did get there it took everything I had to not make my jaw drop. The house we were at was HUGE. It had to be considered a mansion. I couldn’t believe it as Damon came around and opened the door for me. I could hear music bursting through the house walls. My heart started beating in my chest faster than normal. Damon took my head and started leading the entrance. My breathing was starting to become irregular.

Here we go.
