Shell Shock

Hermione's P.O.V:

"It's ok my love, we're almost there" I whisper, she was silent in my arms as I walk through the debris of the castle.

The war was over, we made it.

"Hermione?" I hear a voice ask and I look in front of me to see Madam Promfrey, her eyes look sad as she stares at me.

"Y/n needs help" I say and she walks towards me, gently taking the girl from my arms and placing her on the ground.

She gently placed her fingers on Y/n's throat, for a moment it was silent as we stood alone in the courtyard.

"Hermione...Y/n's gone" she says as and I smile shaking my head.

"No! I felt her heart beat in my hands! I saw her breathing!" I argue as I look down at my girlfriend.

She's fine.

"Hermione, I think you're in shell shock" Madam Promfrey whispers as she stands up, gently touching my arm.

"No!" I laugh out as I look at the women.

"Look at her Hermione..." she whispers and I look down.

Y/n's eyes weren't moving underneath her eyelids, her chest wasn't moving and her skin was pale.

"No..." I whisper as I stare at her longer.

"I was too late?" I ask and Madam Promfrey nods sadly.

A sob escapes my lips as I look at my girlfriends lifeless body, I cover my mouth as tears escape my eyes.

"Oh my god, I was carrying her corpse" I sob out as I collapse onto my knees, Madam Promfrey wraps her arms around me as I cried.

I sobbed so hard, I swore my lungs would pop.

To a point I couldn't breathe.

"Hermione? Hermione I need you to breathe for me" Madam Promfrey says as she lays me onto the ground, I gasp for air as I look over to the love of my life.

I reach over and grasp her cold lifeless hand.

I gasp one more time as I felt my heart stop.

The war took my mind, my life, and my reason to live.

I know I said I wouldn't post more on my birthday but I was looking at pictures at shell-shocked victims from WW1 for school and got the idea that since it's a form of PTSD and can cause anxiety attacks that can lead into heart attacks. How about hermione dies from a broken heart?
