"Alright guys let's move out."

"Macon first right?" James asked.

"Yeah just got to load up the equipment."

They quickly got everything in the cars and drove off down the highway.

"Never slept so uncomfortably in my life," James said.

"You're telling me bro," Quintin said "But I've slept in worse conditions."

"So what about this girl we are all risking our lives for?"

Quintin was silent for a moment "She is a girl you see once in a lifetime. I can't even say much because this kind of love doesn't need words. This is a girl I'm risking all of our lives to save is worth more than any amount of love. She is my mind, body, heart, and soul. She is the reason I will stop at nothing to get to her. She is the reason I became a god. She is the reason I'm still alive today. She is the motivation of my entire life. Well that and the fact the entire future of the universe rests on my shoulders."

"I have never heard more sincere words in my life," he smiled "your soulmate is all you could have said."

Quintin shrugged one shoulder and smiled "Doesn't matter."

"One thing I always remembered from you was your sense of humor. That's something that never changed."

"I've was told that—"

Quintin was interrupted by the sight of a small hoard of infectors as they turned the corner. They were lined up from ditch to ditch on the highway. Nicole rolled up next to Quintin "What do we do?"

"Ograz and I will handle it," said Quintin.

They both got out of the car. Quintin drew Infection while Ograz drew a dagger and a baseball bat he found in the store they were just in a few miles back. Quintin looked over and chuckled.

Ograz spoke "It's better than nothing," he tightened the grip on both weapons "I'm better with unbalanced dual wield anyway."

They ran forward to the hoard. About a few minutes later every infectors was dead on the grass or asphalt. James rolled up "That was badass," he said.

"Yeah, well me and Ograz have this little competition going on to see who can kill the most infectors...he is winning."

Ograz laughed "Millo and me used to do the same thing with criminals or prisoners who escaped captivity."

Everyone else was a bit shocked, but not fully surprised. They all continued along the road. Gathering supplies, catching up on lost time, and planning their next move in every situation. Eventually they reached Macon. It was a bit too quiet. Broken cars, trash flying with the wind across the street, and dead bodies in gutters and on boulevard corners.

"Shit must have hit the fan worse here than back in Albany," Emily exclaimed.

"That is quite obvious," James said in response.

"Alright guys lets split up. Nicole come with me we are going to take the east. James and Emily you go to the west. Ograz go into soul form and take point at the city hall where is which we all will meet up. Then we will double back to the cars," said Quintin.

No one disagreed and went as Quintin planned. The buildings around them were like a maze. The cars and trucks rammed into buildings, lamp posts fallen with broken glass around the top, the smell of burning flesh filled the air, silence, and the feeling of being watched consumed their senses.

"You know Nicole a blunt would do us nicely right now."

She laughed and looked down "Too bad Vera is gone, we could have shared it. Hell maybe even had one for each."

Their dialogue was interrupted by a loud crash in the building next to them. Quintin slowly walked up to the door as he opened it a swarm of cats crowded their feet. Startled, Nicole hid behind Quintin.

"It's nothing," she sighed.

All of a sudden an infector jumped out at Quintin. Nicole pushed them apart and stabbed the infector in the head.

"Thanks..." said Quintin "Appreciate it."

"No problem Mr. Fate of the Universe," she winked at him and proceeded to walk down the road."

About another 100 feet down the road she stopped to realize something "I need to ask Ograz something."

Ograz appeared in solid form "Yes?"

He scared her for a second but quickly collected herself "Why won't you help Quintin in protecting us? You are the God of Fire right?"

"I'm still awaiting my weapons from Mother Nature. I can't use my powers without them."

Quintin spoke out "Then how...."

His speech was interrupted by a bright beam of light shooting across the sky and impacting the city hall.
