A light flickered from inside a cave in the forest. "Ahhh!!! Not again!" A she-cat yelled.
"It's alright, Sapphire! It was an accident, Sis." A tom meowed and looked at her.
"I just sneezed and breathed out fire! I always have control over this. Why now? I mastered it! Are you hurt?" she asked, worried about her brother.
"I know, but mistakes happen. Even Masters make mistakes and I'm fine. I wasn't near it. I know about your abilities, Sis." he mentioned, whacking a fern at a flame on the ground to extinguish it.
"True, but it's irritating when it happens." she replied, as she watched the flame. She scrunched her paw before separating her fingers, moving them apart as the flame disappeared. She turned and began to lick her heated, red fire pelt.
Her brother looked at where the flame used to be then looked at her, with a look of confusion, "Why do you keep doing that?"
Sapphire turned around, "I already told you, I am a master at it and you look like you needed some help." she giggled, then went back to grooming herself.
"Your fur has been like that for as long as I can remember. How do you not burn yourself?" he asked, walking back over to her and sitting down, laying his tail on his front paws.
"Hunter, I don't know. It's like it's a part of me, I've had this for a long time." Sapphire said.
"I am curious, do you ever wonder if there are other cats with the same abilities as you, or even different ones?" he asked.
"I'm not too sure about that but my abilities are unusual. I think I might be the only cat, or it could even be some effect that will wear off." she said
"You think so?"
Sapphire held up one of her paws and focused, as she did, a flame appeared from her paw, and then she did the same for the other. She held her paws in front of her, facing each other as if she was pushing the fire towards the opposite paw. Her pelt began to blaze and spark more as she focused.
"What cat in the forest can do this? I'm sure no one in our family can!" she said, relaxing her paws. The flames went out and her pelt calmed.
"It's an ability and it may be a mystery where it came from, but you are still my younger sister." Hunter smiled, mischievously.
"Thanks." she said, kindly, thinking about the last thing he said, "and who are you calling younger? I am technically older than you!"
"Really? How much? Because I'm three months older than you!" he smiled.
"You... three months? I'm the one that's three months older!" she smiled, swatting in his direction.
"Haha! You wish!" he replied, cheerfully.
"I will be the oldest kitten of the family." she laughed.
"Yeah, maybe older in your mind but definitely not in age." he said.
They both laughed.
"Anyway, I must go hunting before it gets too late." Hunter meowed before getting up.
"Okay," she meowed. "I ate earlier so I might just sleep."
"I can come tomorrow." he offered, walking to the entrance of the cave.
"No, it's okay. Don't worry about me, I'm fine." she said, wearily, stretching out her front arms.
"Okay," he responded, "I've gotta go. Anyway, bye Sis!" Hunter left the den and walked into the forest.
"Bye!" she called. She stood up and looked around her cave. She wanted to go into the forest, or maybe even go for a walk. 'What to do?'

She thought for a moment before deciding to sleep she laid back down and rested her head on her paws. 'I really wish that there was some adventure. I do like those but you never find them around here. I wish I could go back to being a kitten... things were more fun then.'
