Jin-Ling lay on his bed, sprawled like a starfish. His hair remained untied as it curled near his face, making him look absolutely ethereal. His usual dark brown eyes were blank as he stared up at the golden ceiling which had a chandelier hanging. It was his marriage day today. In a few hours, the maids would begin bustling about. Within the end of dusk, he would be married to a complete stranger. His heart twisted in pain. Many insecurities that had been deep-buried found themselves floating on the back of the teen's mind.
The sky was not clouded anymore. The sky lit up as if were lit by thousands of candles. The dawn broke and the chitter of the birds could be heard. Jin-Ling was lying on his bed awake the entire night. The thought of leaving his only family, his uncle, was killing him. The idea of spending the rest of his life with someone else made him sad. He had come to know that he would be married to Lan Sizhui, the Current ruler of Lan Clan. There were rumors about him being an amazing person. According to the various rumors, he was a kind man, extremely faithful, and loving person. He had a natural talent in cultivation and was the best example among all the clan leaders. He was the son of the esteemed Hanguang Jun and Wei Wu-Xian, the power couple in the cultivation world. Sizhui was a flawless person and everyone admired him. He wondered if he would be enough to stand beside Sizhui. His mind tormented with the thought of love. He wondered if the older king would ever fall in love with him. Such thoughts made him weak, his scent getting weaker and sour.
He abruptly got up and sat up on the bed. He stared at the sun in the sky. It was almost five-thirty in the morning. The marriage ritual was supposed to be held in midday because they would be leaving after dusk for Gusu. Apparently, it was a long way from Lanling and it would take sometime by foot to reach there.
Jin-Ling dragged his heavy feet down the room to the bath. He stripped from his night robes and entered the cold bath. The cold water touched his skin, making him shiver but he could care less. The earlier thoughts were still lingering in his head, making him almost unaware of his surroundings. He stayed in the bath for an hour. He remembered all the sweet memories of his at the Koi Tower, his home. Though all his memories were mostly bittersweet, he still cherished them. After all, they were his memories. something, not even his stranger husband will be able to take from him.
After the bath, he entered the room and dried himself. He wore his sect robes and tied his hair in a loose plat. His hair was so long that it would almost reach his feet now. It was light and dark brownish in color, making a garment around Jin-Ling. He quietly stepped out of his room, careful not to make a sound. His soon-to-be in-laws had arrived yesterday, but Jin-Ling was not able to meet them. He wished he had at least met his soon-to-be husband and his family because he had a gut feeling that his husband's family was something that he might not like a lot. Inch by inch, trying to make the least sound as possible, Jin-Ling sneaked out of Koi Tower. Sneaking past the guards in the Main Gate, he ran out of Koi Tower. He ran to the ancestral hall which a little away from the main premises of the Koi Tower. He reached the Hall and took off his shoes at the entrance. He walked into the Hall and sat in front of the memorial tablets of his parents. He lit the incense stick in the hall, before kneeling down before his deceased parents.
