~ this isn't very good, i know. i'm just trying to get myself motivated to write again so here's me forcing myself to write :) ~

You didn't know what it was, but all your enemies seemed to have something against New York. Almost every battle you had fought in had taken place there and it seemed that as soon as they managed to finish the repairs around the city, another fight would take place.

Your thoughts about New York being a constant battle ground were interrupted as you dodged a punch from your opponent, having to roll out of the way before jumping back to your feet. You had to admit, Hydra's fighters seemed to be stronger than the last time you fought them which did scare you a little as it meant they must be building up for something bigger.

As you stood you noticed another member of Hydra approaching you from behind.

'Great,' you thought, glancing between the two men on either side of you, 'As if one wasn't bad enough.'

You waited for one of the men to make the first move and as soon as he did, the other man followed his lead. You dodged out of the way, managing to cut the arm of one of them with the knife you had. He paused for a second but was soon lunging at you again.

'Good thing Steve's been pushing us to train harder,' you thought, slashing your knife at one of the men.

The three of you continued to fight as you rapidly but meticulously thought out your attacks. That was something the Avengers always prided you on, your ability to think quickly and effectively. Whenever a plan needed to be made in seconds they would always rely on you to form it and every time you had done so, your team would take the victory.

One of the men lunged at you and at the last minute you dove out of the way, watching as his momentum pulled him off the edge of the building and out of sight. You turned to look at the other man whose expression held a newfound hatred.

He lunged for you as well and you once again dove out of the way, but due to the burst of pain you felt on your side you knew you hadn't been fast enough. You gave an involuntary cry of pain and your second of surprise was just long enough for the man to shove you to the ground, raising his weapon.

You expected to feel the impact of his blow but instead you saw Steve's shield knock him backwards with a force you were sure had killed him instantly.

"Y/N!" you managed to roll onto your side and push yourself into a seated position nearly gasping from the pain on your side.

You glanced up to see most of the team gathering on the roof walking towards you, which made you realize the battle was most likely over. You then noticed a worried Loki running towards you, kneeling next to you as soon as he was close enough.

"Are you okay?" he asked scanning your body for injuries, his eyes filling with concern as they took in the blood on your shirt from where your side had started to bleed.

"I'm fine," you said, suppressing a grimace as you began to stand up. Loki was quick to help you to your feet, not quite believing your answer.

"Are you sure?" Loki asked, continuing to hold onto your arm as he watched the blood stain on your shirt continue to grow.

"Yes," you replied as the quinjet came into view and landed on the roof, "I'll just need to clean it when we get back to the tower."

The others had begun to pile onto the quinjet and you and Loki followed after them. Loki didn't let go of your arm and you were secretly glad he hadn't as you had started to feel a bit light headed.

You stumbled a little as you reached the jet, Loki immediately tightening his grip on your arm. Your head was spinning and you closed your eyes for a moment, trying to clear your mind.

"Y/N-" Loki started but you interrupted him.

"Loki, I-" you felt your legs give out, darkness clouding your vision as you felt yourself fall.

You never hit the ground though as Loki was quick to catch you, pulling you into his arms as he quickly boarded the jet.

A throbbing pain in your side was the first thing you noticed as you began to regain consciousness. You opened your eyes, squinting at the light for a moment before you realized you were in the medical room at the Stark Tower.

You shifted slightly and tried to sit up, letting out a whimper as the pain reminded you of why you were here.

"Y/N," you turned to see Loki quickly walking towards you.

"Loki," had you been feeling better, you would have cringed at how desperate you sounded but at the moment you couldn't care less.

"You're okay," Loki spoke as he gently guided you back down to the bed, "Try not to move too much okay?"

You gave a small nod as Loki sat on the edge of your bed, placing his hand on your cheek with a sympathetic smile.

"Dr. Strange said you would be fine," Loki said as he ran his thumb across your cheek, the gesture already calming you down, "You're just going to have to rest for the next few days."

You gave him another small nod as you relaxed into his touch, closing your eyes. Loki smiled as he continued to sit with you, making sure that you were comfortable. As soon as he felt you completely relax he knew you had fallen asleep and he leaned down to place a gentle kiss on your head, vowing not to leave your side until you were healed.
