Where did you go?

26~ Jumping on buildings

(Marinette's POV)

The next day I get ready for school as usual and surprisingly get there early. It's our first day back ever since our trip. Our school gave my grade a couple of days off so that we could get used to being home again before starting back up. I have no problem going because Luka goes to a different school anyways but what I'm definitely nervous about is Adrien. 

I walk up to the front doors and greet Alya, who was waiting for Nino and me to arrive.

"Hey, girl! What's up?", she asks me.

"Hey! Nothing much, just feeling a little weird since we're back at school already", I reply to her.

She nods and continues.

"Oh, definitely. I miss being in California already and it's only been a couple of days since we got back. Hm, I was going to ask you about something, but I forgot", she says and I make a face of confusion until her face lights up. "Oh yeah! Now I remember, so, how is the situation going? Did you talk to Luka or Adrien? Or both?"

"I talked to Luka, we sorted everything out so everything is fine between us", I say.

"Based on that answer, I'm guessing you guys are officially over? So that means you chose Adrien, huh?", she says with a smirk on her face.

I feel the heat rise to my cheeks and quickly shake my head.

"Well, yes, we're officially over. I did choose Adrien but it seems like he's been avoiding me. At this point, I think I'm just going to take a break."

That's what I'll tell her for now. How am I supposed to tell her that I'm involved with Cat Noir? She'll think of it weirdly since we've barely had any interaction and she'll put everything together and realize that I'm Ladybug. I cannot take that chance right now. 

"Whatever seems best for you girl. I'm glad you're feeling better though."

"Thanks, Alya. Anyways, did you hear about the akumatization that happened yesterday? Crazy right? After Hawkmoth supposedly being gone for so long, he just came back out of nowhere!", I mention. 

"Right!", she agrees. "I wanna do an investigation about it and post it on my Lady blog."

"You should!", I suggest as the bell rings for class. 

We continue to talk about the random akumatization while walking to class. When I enter, Adrien's already in his seat. I look at him but he avoids eye contact as best as he can. 

So he is avoiding me. 

I want to let myself be upset but then again, this allows me to pay full attention to Cat Noir. 

The day goes by as normal and when I get home I work on some homework to get it out of the way.

"Are you going to meet up with Cat Noir today?", Tikki asks me.

"I don't know, he didn't tell me anything yesterday because we were too distracted on trying to hide our identities from each other", I reply. "After I'm done with this homework, maybe I'll call him and ask if he wants to hang out."

"It'll be good either way! You guys can do a quick patrol while also spending time with each other since Hawkmoth is back!", she says.

"You're right, it is a good idea", I say to her smiling. "All I gotta do is finish this assignment and I'm set!"

It takes me about another 20 minutes to finish my homework, but as soon as I finish it, I transform into Ladybug and check my bug phone. 

4 Missed Calls from Cat Noir

I guess he had the same idea I did, what a pair. 

I press on his contact and the phone rings for only a couple of seconds until he picks up.

"Hey bugaboo, up for a stroll today, or are you too busy?", he asks. 

"Nope! Just finished what I had to do. You read my mind, I was about to call you to ask just that", I say back. 

I hear him laugh on the other side of the phone and it automatically makes me laugh.

"Perfect. I need to talk to you anyways, see ya!", he says before hanging up. 

I put my bug phone away and hop onto my balcony to get going to meet up with him somewhere. We didn't specify where, but I know that I'll spot him immediately when I see a blonde-haired boy in a catsuit jumping on buildings. 

I decide to wait on top of the movie theatre building. He'll be able to see me from here. I sit on the edge, looking at all of the people entering and leaving the building. Right as I see Cat coming, I look back down to see Luka and Kagami entering the building together. 

I'm glad.

"Hey, M'lady, whatcha looking at?", Cat Noir asks all of a sudden, startling me.

I jump up and face him. 

"Oh, nothing. I was just waiting for you to come", I say while flashing a smile.

We patrol the entire city for around 2 hours until the sun starts to set again. After finishing, we sit on the edge of a random building, blabbering to each other to our heart's content. It's silent for a couple of seconds before I break the silence with a question.

"Cat Noir, what are we?"

"Anything you want us to be", he replies. 

"No, like seriously. Are we a couple?"

"I want to ask you that separately at the perfect time."

"You don't think right now is the right time?"

"Of course I do, but I want us to hang out more before sealing the deal. Plus, I have something planned", he says calmly before cupping my face with his two hands. "Don't worry about it, bugaboo. A couple or not, I still love you the same."

I giggle and he starts to lean in until again, we get interrupted by another akumatized villain. 

Does Hawkmoth hate us being a couple, too?
