We drove in silence for a few hours before he stopped, it was nearly nightfall.

"Let's take a walk."

I looked out the window and noticed that we were parked outside of 'East Point' I haven't been here in years. Last time I was here I was about 9 years old and it was on a school trip.

"So what are we doing here?" I asked curiously.

"I wanna show you something."

He got out of the car and walked around to open the door for me. He held out his hand and I took it. We walked hand in hand. The park was so beautiful just as I remembered it. There was play area for the kids with swings and slides and also a huge soccer field with nice green grass. There were so many gorgeous flowers with all different colours: pink, red, yellow and purple. The air smelled like freshly cut grass and rain. It was a beautiful sight. He led me up a steep hill

“Jacob, where are you taking me?” I asked.

“You’ll see” He said in a suspicious tone almost as if teasing me.

As soon as we finally made our way up the steep hill he just smiles and says,

“This view is amazing.”

At first I didn’t see it. I was wondering what he meant than I saw it. There was a very high cliff and beautiful, blue water beyond it. The water was so calm and the feeling of tranquility over-powered me.

“Wow this is beautiful.” I said sounding impressed.

He led me to the edge of the cliff but I stopped a few feet before. He kept walking  until the edge.

“Come on Alison. Don’t worry about it just come here.”

“I can’t.” I stepped back another few feet. I was afraid of heights.

“It’s ok Ali, I’m right here.”

I didn’t move.

He stepped towards me and intertwined his hands in mine and led me to the edge. I started to shake.

“It’s okay Ali. You’re okay. I’m right here. You can trust me.”

“I trust you.” I said then smiled.

He then looked me in the eyes and kissed me. This kiss wasn't like any other kiss I've ever had. This was different. It was filled with passion and emotion. It lasted for a few good minutes but suddenly he pulled away.

"Alison, can I ask something?"

“You just did.” I said teasing him. He half smiled at my comment.

“No seriously Ali can I ask you something?”

"Yes of course."

"Look Alison, I am in love with you. I've loved you for so long now. I was just too stupid to admit my true feelings. I've had feelings for you ever since we were just kids. You're an amazing girl and I wanna love and treat you right for the rest of my life. And I guess what I'm trying to say is will you do me the honour of marrying me?”

“What the hell Jacob? Are you crazy? I can’t marry you. I’m only seventeen.”

“But we are graduating in a month. I am eighteen and you are turning eighteen in a few weeks.”

“That’s beside the point Jake; we can’t do this it’s way too much responsibility and commitment.”

“We will figure that all out later. We can work all that out. Just run away with me we can leave as soon as we graduate. We can get the hell out of here. Please Ali, I wanna take care of you and be with you for the rest of my life.”

“It’s sweet that you’re saying all these things but this is the way you’re feeling right now, but try thinking 5 years for now we probably won’t stay together long. You’re talking about spending the rest of your life with me but in reality the chances of that actually happening are very slim. When was the last time you saw a couple together for most of their life and as in love with each other as they were when they started dating. I love you Jacob, I do but you can’t guarantee that we are always going to be together. You can’t always protect me Jacob. I know you’re only doing this because you wanna save me or something and you wanna be a hero but I don’t need saving, I can take care of myself.”

“Is this what you call taking care of yourself, hurting yourself, not doing anything about your dad’s abuse? Alison you’re not even trying. You pretend it’s nothing and that you’re fine but you’re just lying to me and yourself.”

He was really starting to annoy me.

“What the hell do you know about anything? You’ve never been through what I have. Do you get beat on a daily basis? Have you ever been called ‘worthless’ ‘useless’ or a ‘whore' on a daily basis? No you don’t, so don’t you dare say that you know what I’m going through because you have no damn idea.” I practically shouted all of this at him. I started to cry. He held me we stood there for a few moments. He was holding my waist and my arms holding onto his neck. I felt so peaceful while he held me.

“Ali look at me” He lifted my chin up to meet his worried eyes.

“I’m so sorry Ali. Please don’t be mad. I’m sorry if I upset you. I just want the best for you.”

He wiped the tears from my cheeks.

“I’m sorry too.” I hugged him again.

“I love you Alison.”

“Forever and always.” He then added.

“I love you too Jake.”
