vii.

Jongkook, fled around the kitchen hopping from one place to another in a cyclical motion. Aside from the dimmed light of the kitchen's lamp, he made use of the breaking dawn. Jongkook was raised by his father to look at things limitedly, like after that scarcity would enveloped the world, thus you should be thrifty and save every last bit of something.

"Adeul, bwohaneungeoya jigeum?"

[ 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬: son, what are you doing? ]

Wiping beads of sweat off his forehead, he then threw a sideways glance at her mom's direction, "Eomma, the sun hasn't rise yet. Why are up so early?" But his mom reveled in the scent from the soup pot overwhelming the kitchen that she might have tuned out any noise.

"Tofu and vegetable soup. That's new, son! You always have an apple in the morning and you know what's more strange? You waking up at dawn, you sure had a good sleep? It's gonna be a long day at work," worried was evident in her eyes but Jongkook laughed all her mom's worries. He knew, it was odd but he wanted to give Jihyo a healthy start before they kick off to a strenuous day in a variety world.

A sly smile was enough for her mom to understand the main reason of these novelty and oddness. She was rejoicing in the fact that maybe sooner, in a month or two, his son would finally get married and would have his own family. To top all that, a cute son or daughter would suffice.

"Pack a bag of my homemade ginseng tea for Jihyo-shii. My tea works like magic, ask her out and that will be a yes," then the curly haired Choi Hye-seon grinned at her son.

"Aniya, eomma! I .. c-can't do it, not now."

"Aigooo! You act tough and mighty in screen but can't ask a girl out on a date. Don't act coy on me, Kim Jongkook. I want her. You must get her."

"But.."

"No buts son. I did not raised you to get wobbly in your knees over a girl," his father with a precious morning smile on his face, descended from the stairs and joined the little huddle and eventually, lend a hand in preparing the dish for their future daughter-in-law.

Meanwhile, Jihyo was inside her car looking pale. Her manager insisted on letting his artist take the day off but she was persistent and valued work more than anything. Jihyo the passionate ace, his manager thought.

When they arrived at the set, Jihyo was flooded with warm greetings and that made her feel better. Jaesuk trodden the cobbled pavement to Jihyo's way, hugged and gave her a present wishing her good health, all the time. Same with Kwangsoo who bought a box of a back massage machine which earned him a compliment from Jihyo for being so thoughtful. As always, the members criticized and disapprove his way to show off.

They were all clumped together until Jongkook came. Like a silent command, the members slithered away and back to their own world. Jihyo was confused why there was a need to depart from the circle when they could stay and hear what Jongkook had brought for her. That seems odd, she thought for a moment but it was pushed away when the man in front of her smelled of a steaming soup. Her insides rumbled. Eyes dazzling with glee, she took a sipped and smiled after gulping it down, a comfortable heat on her stomach.

"Did you made this?" She was hopeful he did and when he nodded, she couldn't help but feel loved and worthy. Looking at him she said, "I must be special."

Jongkook who was taken aback flashed a nervous smile, and managed to say, "Of course! I visited you the last time, wasn't that a dead give away?"

Her heart fluttered and that's enough to go through the day. Who would have thought that a beast could go soft and all mushy, only to her. Jihyo missed how Gary took care of her, and in Jongkook she felt so much more.

As a way of thank you, Jihyo invited him on a night out. Jongkook deterred himself not to sound too excited and all merry about it. With a lopsided smile, "Sure! I'll fetch you."

It was a deal. They are meant to met on Saturday when all could possibly happen.
