the silence covered my skin, burning the calming yet stinging sensation into my flesh. cipher had invited y/n over to his house, despite my efforts to get him not to. i didn't have a thing for the boy, im not that quick to jump to that conclusion. he was just too soothing for comfort, is all.
"back with drinks, you two!" cipher had a small ceramic plate with three drinks on it. a tea for the immature server, just a water for me, and a dark fizzing soda supposedly for y/n.
cipher placed the plate on the clear coffee table. y/n flashed him a greatful smile before delicately wrapping his fingers around the cold glass that held his soda. i just merely nodded at the blondie.
he took a seat in the chair across from the couch me and y/n occupied, even though there was a seat open in-between us. bitch wants us to move closer.
"y/n, how's that song going?" cipher had a sneaky grin on his face, and y/n took caution, thinking his answer through before speaking one syllable to the surprisingly shorter boy.
"almost finished, why?" his reply was long and shaky, sounding scared, yet he smiled. he knew ciph would pull some joke a middle schooler would do.
"ive got a guitar, why don't you play it?" ciphers grin grew, while y/n's dropped, replaced with a sigh and the facial expression of a tired father.
"did you call me over just to get me to play to wil? i don't need help getting in his band, ciph." the blonde boy immediately looked offended, even though nothing y/n said was offensive.
"i wouldn't do that!" lie, "and it's not just his band, it's mine too! fuck off." he slumped in his chair, propping his head up with his hand that was now resting by his elbow on the armrest. i held back a chuckle at his childish remarks.
"it'll be out in a few days, then you can hear it. until then, you can wait." he extended his words in a matter-of-fact tone, like a parent would to a child. it seemed everything cipher and y/n did could be related to that child-parent relationship.
cipher stuck his tounge out at y/n, sending the taller boy into a short-lived fit of laughter. that short timespan cause my ears to ring with delight and comfort. his laugh was like the sound of waves hitting the shoreline on an empty beach. purely amazing.
apparently, i had been staring at the boy as he filled my senses with his laughter. he glanced over to me and my breath caught in my throat. i immediately looked down at my hands. great thinking.
when my eyes faltered, however, y/n's didn't. i could feel the comforting pins ache into my spine, mixing two opposite emotions to create a whirlwind of fear yet excitement.
i heard him scoff in a playful manner as his stare lifted itself from my skin. it was relieving, yet draining and stressful. every line seperating emotions around me blurred together.
"so, anyone up for 21 questions?"
-----------
i am so incredibly sorry that this is late and that the chapter is so short. ive got bad strep throat and as I said before ive run out of pre-written chapters, so unfortunately I don't think any uploads will be coming this week. i hope you can forgive me!
