Then next morning I woke to the smell of something delicious cooking. I sat up and slipped on my cat slippers, not bothering to get dressed, and went towards our kitchen. Turning the corner I see Hitoshi sitting at the table with Eri, who is dousing three chocolate chip pancakes with an obscene amount of syrup. His back is to me so I walk up behind him and mess up his hair with my hand. "Dad," he says in his adorable annoyed tone. "Stahhp."
"Sorry Hitoshi, you're just so cute." I say lightly pinching his cheek. He looks better than he did when Hizashi and I first adopted him, he's getting more sleep at night so the bags under his eyes have mostly disappeared, though now he choses to wear black eye shadow under his eyes, he says it's his "aesthetic", I think he looks adorable, and he's happy so that's all that matters.
"Daaaad." He groans as I move over to Hizashi in the kitchen wearing his "Hot Dad" apron. I wrap my arms around him and kiss his cheek.
"How are you feeling?" He asks with a slightly concerned voice.
"I'm okay." I say with a small smile, and he hands me a plate of pancakes. I take my seat by Eri and she comes to sit on my lap and steal a bite of pancake.
"Oh hey, I got a call from Principal Nezu, he wants us to bring Eri down to the school today." Hizashi says, making me loose my appetite.
"Hey Hitoshi can you take your sister to go get dressed." I ask looking at my plate.
"You heard 'em." He says standing up from his chair. "I'll race you."
"Okay!" Eri yells and they both take off running to their rooms, making me smile.
"Shota?" Hizashi asks.
"They want to use Eri." I say quietly trying to hide the anger from my voice.
"I know." He says quietly. I look at him, he knows? And he still wants to take Eri to them? "All Might called earlier, he thought he might've upset you when he brought it up yesterday." We're quiet for a moment
"They can't use her." I say looking at him. "I won't let them drag her into a war."
"Shota." Hizashi says walking over to me. "I know and I don't like it either, but she could save lives." I know he's right, but I don't want to hear it.
"No! They won't use our daughter." I say letting some of my anger take over. Hizashi is quiet for a moment before he speaks up.
"Okay, if you don't want her to go than we'll tell Nezu no." When he says that I let out a deep sigh.
"I'll go to the school and tell them our decision." I say as he walks toward me and takes my hand.
"Okay." He says and I kiss his hand, how did I ever get so lucky? I walk back to our bedroom and get dressed in my hero outfit, which thankfully is just as soft as my pajamas and head to Hitoshi's room.
"Hitoshi time to go." I say knocking and I can hear him shuffling behind the door before he opens it and walks out, wearing his UA uniform.
"Alright old man, let's go." He says walking past me and putting his bag over his shoulder. On my way out I stopped by Eri's room and peeked in to see her forcing Hizashi into a tea party dress. Walking out I could only think of what I was going to tell Nezu and the other heroes, they we're all depending on me to bring in Eri, but I can't, I won't, she's my little girl and I'm not going to make her help in a war. The ride to UA was silent, thankfully, I didn't feel like talking and apparently neither did Hitoshi because he had his headphones in. When we arrived Hitoshi and I walked in, but split off when Midoriya call him away and I went to Principal Nezu's office and mentally prepared myself before I walked in.
"Ah Aizawa, good to see you." All Might says as I walk in. "I had worried I upset you yesterday when I brought up Eri."
"Speaking of Eri," Nezu says as I walk in and shut the door behind me."Where is she? I thought we were starting her training today." Here we go, I take a calming breath before saying,
"She's not here, and I won't be bringing her in."
"Aizawa? I thought we agreed that when the war starts out world will need her." All Might says.
"No, you said that. I just stood there." I say frustrated. "Eri is my daughter and I don't want her exposed to the tragedies of war."
"Without her countless hero lives could be lost!" All Might says getting almost as angry as me, almost.
"She's seven!" I yell at him.
"I don't understand your apprehensiveness, you saw with your own eyes what she can do yesterday when she healed that Nomu." All Might says, and now I'm boiling with rage.
"His name is Shirakumo!" I yell at him and he steps back, I know he meant nothing of it, but bringing up Shirakumo in an argument, it just made me so mad. He went to say something, but was interrupted by the door opening and Hizashi and, Eri?, walk in. "Hizashi? What are you two doing here?
"She wanted to come. Shota she wants to help." Hizashi says looking toward Eri who looks at me.
"Daddy, I- I wanna help. I wanna use my quirk to heal people." Eri says taking my hand.
"Eri," I say kneeling down to her level. "You don't have to do this-" I start to say, but she cuts me off.
"I know daddy, I want to. I want to be a hero like you Papa and Hito. And after I help the heroes, I'm going to heal your friend." My eyes go wide and fill with tears as she says that, so she takes her hand and puts it on my head. "I know you're sad, I wanna help you and I wanna help your friend." Tears fall down my face as Hizashi pulls us both into a hug and I can see he's also crying. That settles it. We began training the next day, and when the war came she was ready, and I was so proud.
