??? POV
I groan as I open my eyes to see a white ceiling. I slowly sit up, my body not quite at one hundred percent, and look at the room I'm in. It's a normal looking white room, with the exception of a large black out window on one of the walls and a door that looks very reinforced. I let my hands fall onto the bed I'm on and trace the sheets. It's warm and soft, the softest thing I've ever felt. I jump when the door opens and a boy walks in, the same boy that saved me. "Hi, again." He says in a nervous, yet sweet voice. "I- uh, well, my name is Shirakumo. You probably don't remember me, but-"
"I remember you, you saved my life." I say cutting off his rambling. "Of course I remember you." He looks at me surprised and walks over to me.
"Can I sit?" He asks gesturing to the bed, and I nod in response. He sits down next to me and we make eye contact for what feels like forever. "Well, you know who I am, but I don't know you. What's your name?"
"I'm, Kenta." I say. "At least I think it is, it's hard to remember."
"I know." Shirakumo says quietly. "When I was trapped I started to forget everything. My family, friends, and even my own name."
"How long were you trapped?" I ask him.
"Well I died about fifteen years ago, and after I died I was reanimated and turned into a nomu." Shirakumo says looking at his hand which had scratches all over, along with his clothes and a cut on his head slightly above his eyebrow which has a small bandage on it. Did I do that?
"Nomu? Is that what they're called?" I ask trying to stay engaged in the conversation.
"Yeah." He says and I nod before remembering what he said.
"Wait, you died?" I ask him trying not to sound so confused.
"Yeah, on a mission." He answered in a low voice.
"D-does that mean I died?" I ask with a slight quiver in my voice.
"I don't know, maybe?" He says unsure. "Can you remember anything? Anything at all?"
"Yeah, well kinda." I say searching my mind trying to remember anything when my mind settles on a hazy memory of me walking alongside a little girl with brown curly hair. "I remember a girl, I-I think she's my sister."
"Hmm. Well, that's something to go off of, do you remember anything else about her?" He asks looking at me with a hopeful smile.
"Ugh." I say with a sigh as I raises my hand to rub my head. "I don't know." I says as I fall back so my head dangles slightly over the bed. "I just can't remember."
"That's okay." I hear Shirakumo say as he mimics my movement and lays back letting his head dangle off the bed, his hair dangling to the floor. "When I came back I had no idea what was going on. I remembered my friends sure, but I forgot alot of other things. Like my favorite subject in school, or how good food really tasted, and even my own face." He says and I looks at him, my curly hair swishing as I turn.
"I could never forget your face." I say and I can see his cheeks pink up, and mine follow when I realize the embarrassing thing I just said. "Uhh that is, I mean, because you saved me." I rush to say with an awkward laugh, which he smiles at.
"Thank you." He says. "And I don't think I'll be forgetting your face anytime soon either." A small smile appears on my face, my first real smile in a long time. We stay in that position for what feels like forever, gazing into each other's eyes when the door suddenly opens causing Shirakumo to jolt up which unsteadies me enough that I slide down the bed and onto the ground with a yelp. "Oh sorry Kenta." Shirakumo says with a slight laugh as he rushes over to help me up.
"Thanks." I say, weirdly happy when he says my name as I take his hand to stand up and see a man, slightly disheveled looking standing in the doorway.
"Uhh, you okay kid?" He asks.
"Yeah, yeah, sorry." I answer him embarrassed.
"That's okay. Shirakumo it's getting late are you ready to go?" He asks directing his attention to Shirakumo. I feel a slight frown come over my face as I think about him leaving.
"What about Kenta? Where's he going to stay?" Shirakumo asks and I feel shocked that he would even consider me.
"I think Nezu is gonna have him stay here tonight." The man says. The idea of staying here alone gives me chills.
"Can he come with us?" Shirakumo says after thinking about what the man said. I can see the cogs turning in his brain as he looks between Shirakumo and I.
"I don't have anymore spare rooms at the house." He says.
"He can stay with me." Shirakumo says almost simultaneously. I glance at his face and see him looking at the man with a fiery determination that the man also notices. I look at him and his face is unreadable, but I know he was considering the offer and then his eyes met mine, and he seemed to study me, making me self conscious in his gaze.
"Okay." He finally says. "If you're okay with him staying with you then I am too."
"Thank you Shota." Shirakumo says as he leads me out the room.
"Thank you sir." I say as I hold my hand out to the man.
"It's no problem, and call me Aizawa." He says as he takes my hand and shakes it. "Okay guys let's head out." Aizawa says as leads us into a hallway with many doors in it.
"Where are we?" I ask Shirakumo as we walk.
"We're in a school, called U.A." Shirakumo says as we walk to the same pace behind Aizawa. "I used to be a student here with Shota before-" and his voice fades before he finishes the sentence.
"Before you died?" I ask quietly and he looks to the ground before looking at me.
"Yeah." He says looking back at his feet, analyzing every step. "I was training to be a hero."
"Well it worked." I say and he looks up at me shocked. "I can't remember what I did as a nomu, but I do remember what it felt like, the loneliness and hopelessness I felt every minute of every day. But then, one day I didn't feel that I felt warm and safe, and for the first time in forever I felt hopeful. All because some guy I had never met before told me I could fight. You saved me, you're a hero." I say and I could see tears well up in his eyes before he could hold them down.
"Thank you." Shirakumo says as he wraps his arms around me in a hug.
"You're welcome." I say as I tenderly wrap my arms around him. Shirakumo breaks the hug, but he doesn't leave my space. Instead we stand there together, gazing into each other's eyes.
"We better go catch up with Shota or he'll worry." Shirakumo says softly.
"Yeah, we better." I say and we walk together, slightly faster than before, until we catch up to Aizawa, who was waiting for us behind a corner, not wanting to leave us behind. We walked out to the car and drove to Aizawa's house.
