Luci sighed, she felt bad for lying to her friends, but she needed to be alone. Luci walked into her bedroom and flopped on her bed, sighing loudly, not knowing what to do. Then she decided to go for a walk. Luci grabbed a dark pair of jeans and a grey sweater; she pulled on some socks and a pair of vans, then she pulled a dark maroon and grey plaid scarf around her neck and added a beanie that matched the maroon of her scarf perfectly.

She walked out the door locking it behind her.  Luci breathed in the sharp autumn air and smiled slightly. She wondered around the city until she ended up at the park. That didn't surprise her much; she always came here. Luci walked towards the tree she usually sat in, but frantic meowing drew her to a different location. Her eyes widened when she saw a small kitten backing up from a large dog. Luci grabbed a large stick and ran in front of the dog, swinging it. "Fuck you! Leave the poor thing alone!" She said to the dog, raising her voice slightly.

The dog turned away and left, its tail between its legs. Luci dropped the stick and looked at the kitten. She gasped. It was muddy and looked starved. Luci knelt and picked up the small creature. It was shaking like mad whilst she held it close. "Shhhhhh, it's okay, your safe now." Luci whispered into its ear. Then she got up - still holding it close - and began to walk to her house.

When she got there she unlocked the door and walked in. She ran some warm water and filled the bathtub about two inches before picking up the kitten and placing it  into the warm water gently. With caring hands she cleaned its fur. Then she dried it off and left it in her bed. She walked into the kitchen and grabbed her mobile.

"Hello?" The voice on the other end said. "Hi, how are you?" Luci greeted. Meow? Luci looked down and saw the kitten sitting there staring up at her. Chuckling, she picked it up and sat on the couch putting it in her lap. "I'm good." The person replied. "Can I help you with something?" "Actually yes," Luci answered. "I found a baby kitten at the park, it was all muddy and I cleaned it up, but I don't know what to feed it  and I would like to get it checked out to make sure it's healthy." The person on the other line chuckled. "Why don't you drive over, I am closing up in a bit, and I can check on your kitten." Luci smiled. "Thank you, and see you soon." They both hung up and Luci picked up the kitten who was now dry.

Then she found a clean towel and walked out to her car. She made a bed with the towel and the kitten curled up, purring. Luci started the car and headed to the vet's. She walked in and saw a woman who looked about 35. She had blond hair pulled up loosly and light blue eyes. The woman smiled when she saw Luci. "Hello, I'm Madge." Luci smiled back. "Luci." She showed Madge the kitten sleeping in her arms. "And this is... Fluffles." Madge laughed and let Luci to a room where she gestured for Luci to lay down Fluffles. Madge checked over Fluffles and gave him a shot which he did not like at all. "So, how are you?" Madge asked after checking Fluffles who was sleeping peacefully. "I'm good." Luci smiled. Madge frowned. "No how are you really? You seem off, and please, don't lie to me, it will only hurt you."

Luci looked at her in surprise before sighing. "Well..."

Luci told Madge about how Luke, how nice he was, and caring. How they met often and why they met. Madge listened carefully. Luci told her about the picture of him and the other girl, how it hurt her even though they weren't even a couple, and just everything. She told how she felt, and that she didn't understand why she reacted that way.

When she finished Madge looked at her sympathetically. "Solicitude." Madge whispered. Luci looked at her. "What?" Madge smiled. "It is obvious you really care about him."

Luci nodded numbly and payed Madge cuddling Fluffles close. "Wait!" Madge called. Luci turned. "Here," She handed Luci a slip of paper. "I want you to call me if you need to talk, okay?" Luci smiled. "I will, thanks... for everything."

On her way home, Luci stopped to pick up some stuff for Fluffles. When she walked into her house, she put down his food and water bowl and his bed. Then she tiredly crawled into her own.

Do I really like Luke? Luci wondered as she lay in her bed.

I do, I care about him... I fancy him. Then Luci drifted off to sleep.
