-Two Years Ago-

This was stupid.

So fucking stupid.

I kept trying to distract myself from what was about to happen. Trying to assure myself that I wasn't "technically" breaking any laws.

I was totally not finding out where the whereabouts of a class S missing ninja was and not turning him in- but here I was. Waiting in the woods miles outside of the village waiting on him.

I would look around every once in a while to assure myself that no one else was around- that no one else was watching.

I knew that this was wrong- oh so very wrong.

But I couldn't bring myself to ignore his letter- even though I have no idea how he got the man, who snuck the letter to me while eating in a cafe, to bring it to me.

Maybe Sasuke did have connections.

I found the place that Sasuke wrote about in his letter, a small field inside the forest with a pond on the outside of the field. I found a spot where I could face the emptiness of the field and also be right next to the water. The fall wind was starting to pick up, which was making me shiver.

It wasn't quite sundown- but the sky was growing darker and darker each passing moment.

"You're here." An unexpected voice mused- startling me. He was standing right next to me- it was like he came out of nowhere. His familiar scent of musk, deep woods, and the smoke of a campfire started to surround me, assuring me that this was in fact real. That Sasuke Uchiha was actually here.

"I was starting to wonder if the letter was fake!" I cried, throwing my arms around him pulling him into a hug. My reaction obviously caught him off guard. He initially flinched away from me, not expecting my loudly expressed emotions, but he slowly started to wrap his arms around me, burying his face into my hair.

It had been a while since we had seen each other- the last few times were just fate. This was the first time that we had planned something like this.

I have no idea why he was willing to risk so much to see me. Or how I managed to convince myself to risk so much to see him.

It had been over a year since we last saw each other. I could tell that time had done him well- his, more defined, muscular arms were wrapped protectively around me. His stance was guarded- as if he was expecting someone to come and ruin this moment any second. His black hair had grown past his ears, and hovering slightly above his shoulders. The back of his hair was still unusually spikey. His face was still perfect- something that I'd imagine the great artist of time painting on angles. His jawline had become more defined over time- but his dark onyx eyes continued to show more and more of the dark thoughts that would pass in his head.

"H-How are things?" I finally asked, not wanting to be pulled away from his embrace. He sat down next to me by the pond as I returned to the position he found me in, still protectively keeping an arm around me. We were talking in hushed voices- making sure that our whereabouts would hopefully go unnoticed.

"Fine." He muttered, playing with a loose strand of hair. He was probably feeling the same feelings that I was. That none of this felt real. "It's been a long year.."

I nodded in agreement, leaning my body against his. Relaxing slowly.

I looked him over, drinking everything in; drinking him in. Everyone for the longest time had kept assuring me that Sasuke had changed- that he was not the Sasuke from my memories. That I was holding onto a school girl crush that needed to be let go of.
