Chapter Twelve: 5 Seconds Of Summer
"So what's Bea's favorite singer?" Hayes questioned into the cell phone he held to his ear. His bottom was plastered inside the cab's seat as he awaited for a reply.
Shuffling could be heard on the other end; a reply soon following, "she doesn't have a favorite singer - maybe a favorite band, but not a singer."
Hayes rolled his eyes at the short answer, "that didn't help any. Who does she listen to when she's sad?" From what he could see, the cab was only a few blocks away from his shared apartment complex.
"From what I hear from her bedroom, she likes 5 Seconds Of Summer - she has a thing for that lead singer."
His lips curved upwards and a small guffaw escaped his lips, "I know them. My little sister obsesses over them."
Lilian paid no mind to his conversation as she fled into a state of boredom, "so what do you need this for?" Lilian curled closer into Taylor as they cuddled after a long night of partying; now that everyone was gone they could relax.
"I have some plans in mind."
"You don't even know the girl-" Lilian paused and some chatter could be heard in the background, "Taylor said hello."
"Hey Taylor!" Hayes shifted his phone to his shoulder as he watched the scenery dance by, "exactly. I don't know her, but I want to."
Lilian scorned, "you act like you wanna propose. What do you have in mind, Grier? You do know that I will hurt you in a heartbeat if you hurt my best friend - I don't care if Taylor is your friend or not."
The yellow cab pulled into the parking lot and Hayes silently directed him to the front door of his complex - telling the driver he'd be a second before leaving to retrieve his belongings. He dashed inside and critically scattered around the house picking up every necessity needed.
"You're on," he mumbled, pushing his laptop into his duffel bag. Hayes tossed a few pairs of clothes on top with his toothbrush and deodorant inside the side pouches.
"Back on topic. Why did you need her favorite band and how long are you gonna take her?"
Hayes coiled from the questions, double checking everything before remembering his chargers weren't yet packed. He quickly ran inside his neat room and put them in his bag quickly. He had to admit that the running was an exercise, but with Bea alone at the hotel and the driver waiting impatiently outside, he didn't have time for a stroll.
"I'm planning to take her some places just to get away - one of the three is going to be a 5 Seconds of Summer concert, but I'm only telling you that because you helped me; the rest is going to have to come from her lips."
"Not if you come out first," Lilian mumbled low enough for Hayes not to catch it.
"What did you say?"
Not another word was said before the line went dead.
