Chapter Twenty Three:
Beatrice and Hayes equally shared the weight of a numb Lilian Marvels over their shoulders. With Hayes on the right and Beatrice taking the left, the duo hauled the girl out front of the hospital; waiting for a cab to arrive. Why they didn't take a car of their own still passed through Hayes' mind, but whatever gets them there.
It was getting quite chilly outside and the more time passed, the darker it got, the lower Beatrice's patience worn down. She wanted to go home already, not to look at the stars tonight, but to sleep. It seems that lately she hasn't been getting enough of the wonderful idea.
Hayes, on the other hand, wanted to go home to see his annoying brother and the friends that accompanied them. He had a great time with Beatrice, and Lilian wasn't too bad herself, but too much drama had taken hold of him already and he simply wanted some peace and quiet.
Lilian, where do you begin with her? To know you're going to die is accompanied with knowing you're alive, but knowing you're going to die so soon is a different story.
Imagine growing up with a wish of having kids, a family, a hunk of a husband, and possibly a pet if you're feeling crazy. Now, imagine all of this going into a waste bin. Imagine everything so in color to tune into such a grey theory. It's like watching a fantastic dancing of lights with many different colors and vibrances slowly burn out. Everything you've ever wanted thrown out the window, to put it simply.
To put it simpler, imagine how Lilian feels.
A few minutes of thinking later, Beatrice turned her head to see a cab slowly approaching. With it's yellow and black designs and a cone atop, Hayes took the liberty of opening the door and sending Lilian in first. Inside wasn't a lot, but it had a heater and to the threesome, it was a luxury.
Lilian slid all the way over to the left, Beatrice filing in after, and Hayes slipped in beside the lilac-haired girl. He shut the door with a bang and watched the lights of the city dance around outside the vehicle. Instantly, Beatrice fell asleep, leaning on Hayes' shoulder.
It wasn't like he was complaining, though.
The Grier kid examined the party. From Lilian's gruesome expression and her attitude tuning out the singing of the oh-so-wonderful One Direction, to Beatrice's sleepy state on his buff shoulder. Suddenly, he was happy he was wearing his favorite maroon hoodie - he thought it brought out his muscles just a tad bit.
