"Well...this morning, I found out that my mother has cancer because I overheard my parents talking about something and I heard her complain about her having cancer. I was so shocked, so scared that I might lose her. And I didn't even know that she had it. She never told me." Jacob explained.
Wow.
"I'm sorry about that." I said truthfully.
"And the whole day it was all I could think about, and I really needed to talk to someone. I wanted to talk to you at school, but it was too late. You sped out of class. So after that I decided to call you after school."
"But why now? You leave me alone and never talk to me, but when you need help or when your in a 'terrible place', then you talk to me?" I asked.
"I'm sorry. I know you still hate me, and I've been wanting to talk to you but I just never did."
I gave him a disgusted look. "I have nothing more to say to you. I should have never came here. I'm sorry but I'm leaving." I said and turned away.
I felt a firm grip on my wrist. "Alexis, please...don't go."
I seriously should have stayed home. Hell, I should have never even picked up the phone. I know his mother is in a bad condition and I feel deeply sorry about that, but I can't deal with being hurt again.
I turned to look at him. "Why? So you could hurt me again?"
"No I'm so sorry. I know I messed up big time, and I don't expect you to forgive me, but please, just at least talk to me." He said with pleading eyes.
"About what Jacob? There is nothing more to talk about!"
He stayed silent for a moment. "Come with me." He said and dragged me back towards the field.
What is he doing?
"Let go of me." I demanded. He didn't respond, just kept walking.
We were now back entering the field, and he dragged me to the middle of it and we sat down.
"Do you remember the last time we were here?" He asked.
Of course I do.
"Yeah. We were sitting here right here in this very spot." I said picking at some of the dead grass that I was looking down at. I remember being in the middle of the field, and we were telling each other the fun memories we had as kids.
"I know. And do you remember what I told you?"
I started getting teary eyed. "No." I lied.
I remember everything. Every little detail.
He lifted my chin up. "Lexi. I know you remember."
I could literally kill him right now.
I pushed him away. "Don't call me that."
"Alex."
He was always so stubborn.
I rolled my eyes. "Why are you asking me this?"
"Do you remember or not?"
"Yeah, cuz the next day is when everything bad happened. When you screwed everything up. I realized that what you told me was just a huge lie."
"Alexis, I never lied to you. I love you and I still do."
There he goes. Lies. He's trying to lure me back to where I was before. He knows my weakness and he's trying to use it against me.
But guess what jackass, I know yours too.
A tear slipped down my cheek. "Jacob stop. Just don't. Please."
"I'm sorry but I can't help how I feel. I love you."
Just stop!
I wiped a tear away and stood up. "But I don't."
I ran away to my car leaving him now standing there, with that hurt, depressed look on his face. "Alexis!" He called. I quickly started the car and drove off.
I can't believe this. He's such a liar. And he has the nerve to lie to my face again. He doesn't love me, he's lying.
He never did.
I feel like such a bitch for saying that I don't love him back, but he needs to know how I felt. How I still feel.
Broken. Heartbroken.
I was still crying when I came back home, so I just sat in the car until I looked a little bit better and stopped crying. I took a good look in the mirror and got out of the car. I walked up to my house and went inside. Both my parents were in the kitchen, so I quickly ran upstairs so that they wouldn't notice me with the way I look.
I ran to my room and quietly shut the door behind me. I changed into a t-shirt and shorts, then went to the bathroom to wash my face. I don't look that bad anymore, so I went downstairs.
"Hey guys." I said to my parents as I walked into the kitchen.
"Oh hey! You came back!" My mom said.
"Yeah, just a couple minutes ago." I responded.
"Oh. Well we didn't see you. Your a sneaky one." My dad said.
I laughed and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and went back upstairs. I watched tv before I went to bed, and my stupid phone started ringing again.
Jacob Mason.
What does he want? Doesn't he know that he put me through enough already?
I answered. "Hello? What do you want?"
"Alex, we need to talk about what happened."
"No, we can talk tomorrow but for now, just leave me alone. I said and hung up.
He is so annoying.
I turned off the tv and started to fall asleep.
