~(Y/N) POV~

"You're going to have to talk to him eventually." Caroline frowns and throws herself onto my sofa. "Sooner rather than later."

"Fuck. Why'd I even tell you?" I groan and shove my face into my pillow.

"Duh. Because I'm amazing." She perks up happily.

The second I bolted away from Professor McGonagall and Draco, I ran into Caroline. She knew something was wrong and wouldn't stop bugging me until I told her. Even after I explained everything she followed me to my dorm.

"Things are never going to go back to how they used to." I continue talking through the pillow.

"Do you even want things to go back to normal?" She raises an eyebrow. "Do you like him as more than a best friend?"

"How am I supposed to know?" I groan angrily. "Yeah, he's hot and I'm emotionally attached to him, but that doesn't mean I like him."

"Emotionally attached?" She snickers.

"That was a joke." I sit up and roll my eyes. "I'm trying to cheer myself up because you're shit at it."

"I wasn't trying to cheer you up. I was trying to get you to face the facts." Caroline crosses her arms. "And I think you should go to his dorm. Right now."

"What am I going to say?" I scoff. "Hey Draco, thanks for the hickies! Let's do it again sometime?"

"Even that's better than hiding in here." She motions around my dorm room.

"I think Draco and I should stay friends for now." I conclude.

"What? Why?" Caroline questions loudly.

"Because we're only in our third year, and Draco and I really have to focus on our school work. He said it himself on the train ride here. He can't afford to slip up. No distractions. And that goes for me too." I explain.

"He made the first move, though. I don't think he minds this distraction." She points to me.

"It was probably a mistake." I twiddle my thumbs. "And it's not like I'm writing him off completely. You never know what'll happen next year. Or even the year after."

"You're willing to push aside your feelings for that long?" Caroline tilts her head to the side. "What if Draco isn't."

"He will be. He knows what we both have at stake." I smile sadly. "I just hope he still wants to be my friend."

"Stop doubting him. You two have been attached at the hip since first year. No way he's going to drop you." She reassures me.

"Maybe I should go talk to him." I bite my lip. "In a little while."

Caroline sighs, and walks over to my swivel chair. She throws her feet onto my desk and plays with the silver charm bracelet around her wrist.

"While we're on the topic of boys..." she begins.

"Is this about Blaise?" I smirk, completely ignoring my own problems. "Is that who gave you the charm bracelet?"

"Yes and yes." She continues to twirl it around with her fingers. "But I don't think he likes me, likes me. You know?"

"What makes you say that?" I scrunch my nose.

"He openly drools over other girls." She frowns. "He was gawking over Astoria with Crabbe the other day."

"He's an oblivious teenage boy. He probably thinks you don't like him." I smile genuinely. "Just go for it. He cares about you more than he could ever care about Astoria."
