CHAPTER 3
He walked over to us and grabbed my arm.
“Come on. I don’t like how you tried to run from me, but I’ll let you off with a warning.” he chastised like I was a little kid. “We’re going back to your house to get you ready. I have reservations at 8:30. Alaina you’re coming with us to help her do whatever girls do to get ready.”
I was too shocked and scared to say anything at the moment or do anything to prevent him from yanking me out to his car. He picked me up and shoved me into the seat like a rag doll and buckled me in while Alaina silently got in the back.
We watched as he stomped to the other side of the car and climbed into the driver’s seat.
“You should know better than to hide from me. Next time I won’t be so forgiving.”
We drove to my house in silence. I let us all in and he told me to go get ready while he just walked off towards my TV room. Alright dick, just make yourself at home…. I thought. Alaina and I hurried upstairs.
“Ermergerd he’s psycho!” she said when we closed and locked my bedroom door.
“I told you! But now what do I do??”
And as if to answer my question, Jake’s deep, gravelly voice called up the stairs “I hope you’re getting ready up there! Get a little dressed up, we’re going somewhere nice. If you’re not ready in 10, I’ll come up and dress you myself, and frankly, I wouldn’t mind that option.” I could just hear the smirk in his voice.
Alaina and I didn’t even have to say anything, we knew we’d better get me ready. I put on a strapless, flowy red dress that went to a little above my knee and a “v” on the chest done in silver rhinestones. I curled my hair while Alaina did my smoky makeup. I didn’t want to dress up for him but if we were going somewhere nice, I wanted to look decent.
I was slipping on my silver heels while Jake said “Times up” and walked in. Instead of the jeans and dark tee shirt he had been wearing, he was wearing dark pants, a dark buttoned shirt and his leather jacket, and actually looked nice.
“Wow, you look beautiful babe. I just hope that dress doesn’t catch any other guy’s eye; you’re mine.”
He walked over and laced his fingers through mine. “Let’s go” he said and pulled downstairs and out to his car. I turned just in time to see Alaina mouth the words “Good luck” before Jake helped me into the car.
We were driving for a few minutes before I finally managed to squeak out “Where are we going?”
“Scotland Run.” he said simply.
He rested his hand on my thigh, a little higher than I liked. I flinched at the sudden contact and he chuckled. “Do I make you nervous?” he asked, amused. I just swallowed and tried to move away from him. He laughed again. “You don’t need to be scared Angela. As long as you do as I say, at least.”
Somehow, this didn’t comfort me. We pulled up to the restaurant and Jake ran around to help me out of the car. We walked with his hand resting in the small of my back. It seemed like he never wanted to stop even the smallest of physical contact, I guess the stories about him being overly-possessive were true.
We got up to the receptionist and I saw Jake lean over and whisper something in the little suited man’s ear. The man gulped and said nervously “Right this way, sir.”
We followed the man through the restaurant. He seated us at a table near the back where we could look out at the lush green golf course illuminated by twinkly lights. Our waiter came around and handed us our menus. He was young and actually really cute, resembling Harry Styles a bit. He gave me a small, dimply smile and asked what I would like to drink. I smiled shyly and told him I wanted water. Jake picked up on the little flirt going on between the waiter and I, and the hand he had on my knee under the table tightened dramatically. I looked up and saw frustration written all over his face. He glared at the waiter, whose nametag said Mason, and told him to get him a beer. Jake was clearly making Mason nervous by the way he stumbled away.
“Angela, I don‘t want you looking at another guy except me.” Jake said bluntly. His hand slid a further up my leg, right up to the top of my thigh. I squirmed and tried to push him away.
“This is why I like you…. You’re so innocent.” he whispered hotly in my ear. “Have you ever been touched before, Princess?”
This caused a deep blush to rise up my cheeks and ears. A low chuckle vibrated through his body and a smirk formed across his plump lips. “I take that as a no then.”
“Why are you doing this to me…” I quivered, voice barely above a whisper.
Before he could answer, Mason returned to take our orders. Despite the icy looks he was receiving from Jake, he still looked me up and down with no shame.
Jake stood up. “Look pal, I don’t care if it’s ‘employee courtesy’ or whatever shitty excuse you’ll come up with, but I don’t appreciate you undressing my date with your eyes everyone time you come over here.”
“I wasn’t-” Mason started before I abruptly stood up as well.
“I have to…go to the bathroom.” I stammered and hurried off, leaving the boys looking surprised by my sudden outburst.
I ran in the direction of the bathrooms, when I passed the hallway that led to the exit. I stopped and looked back. Jake was still arguing with Mason, maybe I could get out and hail a cab before Jake notices. I hid behind a group of elderly people and got to the doors. Just as I was about to get out, I looked back. Jake’s eyes met mine and fury clouded over them when he realized what I was doing. I ran.
