After an hour of Sylvia poking and prodding me with her ridiculous makeup, all I had left to do was find a dress. Sylvia had straightened my copper colored hair for me, and I have to admit, even though my hair was naturally straight, it did look pretty good. She had done herself up like a doll, plastering her face with dark eyeshadow and red lipstick. I only agreed to wear lipgloss and gold eyeshadow as my makeup.
I went to the closet to pick out a dress. I didn't want to look like a slut, but on the other hand I didn't want to look like the parent chaperone at the party. I skimmed through, Sylvia's clothes, finally settling on a dark green dress that came up to my knees and was flowy after it reached my waist. I put on the dress and was ready to go, of course after being approved by my picky roommate.
She insisted on taking a limo to the other side of campus, even though we could have walked there in ten minutes. Although, she probably would have broken one of her seven inch heels on the way, that's why I wore flats.
We arrived at the party, it being so loud that you could hear it from two buildings away. The disco lights were blaring out the windows, dulling my usually perfect vision. Sylvia guided me up the steps to the hall where the party was taking place.
I cautiously followed her in, remembering the entire reason why I was here; to get on a good note with Johnny Storm. Sylvia ditched me to go flirt with guys, while I snooped around for a bit, in search of Johnny.
It was only after about twenty minutes at the party that I made a fool of myself. I was looking for Sylvia, about to give up and walk back to our door, when my mission came to me. I accidentally tripped over someone, landing sprawled out on the empty chair to my left. I stood up quickly, but only by the help of a large, muscular pair of hands.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" I fussed, regaining my balance and fixing my dress. "I'm clumsy, of you couldn't already tell." I got a good look at who I tripped over. He was particularly attractive, with buzzed brown hair and baby blue eyes. I couldn't help but melt a little inside at his handsomeness.
"Nice to meet you, Clumsy. I'm Johnny." he chuckled, letting go of my trembling hands.
"My name's Lonzie, not clumsy." I smiled.
"Well, Lonzie, I think clumsy may just be a better name for you, since you did just manage to trip over a guy without even wearing heels." he laughed.
"Yeah... I'm not the best with heels. That's why I opted for flats. And I probably am the only girl here that would rather be back at my dorm studying, but my stupid roommate dragged me into this." I complained, rolling my eyes at the sight of Sylvia ten feet away eyeing a dude who was dancing with another girl.
"Seriously? I live for this stuff. I don't even go here, but yet I still managed to come." he replied. "Who's your roommate, the girl over there in the pink dress?"
"How did you know?"
"I saw you talking to her when you first arrived. And then I also just saw you rolling your eyes at her." he explained.
"Well, I better get going. I came here looking for someone, and seeing as I haven't found him-"
"Hold on. Him? I know every guy here. I bet I could help you find him!" he suggested. Little did I know that I had found exactly who I was looking for in the first place. "Who are you looking for?" he demanded.
"Johnny Storm. I need to talk to him about something regarding his sister." I said, confused by him laughing hysterically at me. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing... it's just... there are at least ten Johnny's at this party. And it seems as though you happened to find the right Johnny without even noticing!" At first I didn't know what he was talking about. I thought he meant that I had already talked to Johnny Storm but he left. But then it clicked. I was so stupid.
"Really? Your Johnny Storm?" I questioned. He nodded back.
"So, Lonzie, what did you want to ask me about Sue?" he asked, referring to my earlier statement.
"Well, to my prior knowledge, Sue is going on the mission to space with Victor Von Doom's company. And I thought if I could ask you to refer me to her, I would be able to go to space. I already applied for the mission, but so many people have applied that I thought it best to find you and talk to you. You know, get on a good note with Sue and all..." I rambled on. He nodded, smirking a witty smile.
"So your in it for space?" he raised an eyebrow mischievously. I nodded my head, agreeing. "Well, personally, I think you're in it for more than just space." he bounced his eyebrows up and down. I rolled my eyes, aggravated by his dirty mind.
"You know, I was actually starting to think about staying at this party with you until I realized," I complained, "you're just like all the rest of the guys here!" I stormed away, until Johnny reached out and grabbed my arm, preventing me from shaking his firm grasp.
"Lonzie, I'm sorry about that. Look, here's my number, call me sometime." he apologized. I took it well and accepted the little piece of paper with his number of it. "Can I plan on seeing you again?"
"Surely."
