Her - Bucky Barnes x reader story

You and Bucky both walked outside and he looked at you concerned. "Y/n I have to tell you something," he started and you nodded. "You know when you asked me if I get flashbacks or nightmares?" 

"Yeah?" you replied almost knowing what he was about to say.

"I lied and I'm sorry, I get nightmares almost every night," he looked at you as if he was almost ashamed. 

"I know Bucky, I'm sorry." you said apologetically.

"How did you know?" he asked.

"No one reacted to it this morning, no one asked about it, so I figured they happen often," You looked at him and half smiled. 

"They're about hydra," you looked at him and you realised that you two had a lot in common, as that's what your nightmares were about too. 

"I'm so sorry Bucky," you said, "I think I have something to say as well," you decided to tell him about yours, "I have nightmares too, about hydra" you hesitated, "Taking me," They never actually managed to capture you but you felt they were close to doing it somehow.

"I'm sorry y/n, L o L," he said looking sad.

"Bucky, what?" you said looking confused.

"I said sorry," he matched your confusion.

"Bucky what do you think L o L means?" you furrowed you brow and he tilted his head.

"L o L means lots of love," At least the idea was thoughtful, just not executed in the right way. 

"Bucky L o L means laugh out loud." His eyes widened in shock as he realised what he said.

"I am so sorry y/n! Sam told me it meant lots of love!" Of course it was Sam, who else would it be. Bucky was a 106 how would he understand the references. 

"Bucky you dimwit," you laughed. 

"Your such an idiot y/n" he chuckled.

Over the next few weeks you and the team warm up to each other. You, Wanda and Natasha had become best of friends and you and Bucky had become closer than the others expected. You had each bought journals to document your dreams so they could be let out somewhere if the other person wasn't necessarily around. Later on you would share them with each other  and give each other tips on how to make them go away for a while but you found that each day you spent with him you went without a nightmare. 

Later that day you decided to go for a walk, you grabbed your phone, keys to the tower and some money for snacks on your way back, then left. You decided to go to the lincoln memorial reflecting pool and just walk around it. You walked for about an hour (feeding the pigeons with bread whilst walking) then decided to go back. You were about to leave when you turned around and saw Steve running laps. You waved and he waved back, you turned around to walk out of the area when a black bag covered your head.

"Shit" I said under my breath, someone just shoved a bag over Y/n's head, I sprinted as fast as I could to the exit but she had disappeared.   "Shit!" I shouted it this time though. I opened my phone thing and called Tony as quickly as I possibly could. 

"What is it capscicle?" He asked me.

"They've got her Tony, Hydra has Y/n." I sprinted as fast as I could back to the tower and they were all on panic mode, the girls more than the others. Wanda and Nat had already suited up and Bucky came running in with guns and his metal arm uncovered. 

"What are you waiting for Tony, Steve!" Bucky said, "Suit up!"  Bucky was right Tony summoned his suit and I ran to put on mine. I ran back to the briefing room and Tony was telling everyone what's going on.

"So as we all know Hydra has been after Y/n for a while, there are three known Hydra bases around New York so we'll be investigating those in teams," he said, "The first one is under the Lincoln memorial reflecting pool, that is closest to the place Y/n got taken so they would assume we'll check there first" I looked at Bucky and he looked terrified. "I want Clint and Loki there, I will be jointing this team myself, team A." 

"I'll get Y/n back the other two are useless," Loki declared. 

"The second base is a ten minute walk from the tower, it was put there after James joined us and they don't know that we know." Bucky looked at me as if he loved Y/n and I realised that he did. Good luck fighting the rest of the team for her. "I want Nat, Bruce and Thor there, there's a high chance that that's where she'll be and that's why I'm sending you three, Team B." did a compliment just come from Tony's mouth? Kinda. In a way he called them strong. did that even happen?

"What about me?" I said, I want to atleast try and help get Bucky's future girl back.

"Patience capsicle, there is one more base, that's we're I want you, James and Miss Maximoff" Wanda raised her eyebrow looking confused. "It's about 100 meters to the left of Central Park, Team C."

"Now all that's been said we need a plan." I said standing up.

"We already have one Rogers, get in there, get Y/n, get out." I looked at Tony and raised an eyebrow. "what, I'm just simplifying what you were going to say."

and with that each of the three teams set of to find Y/n. Team A went first, followed by Team B then finally my team (Team C.)
