As Sunday rolled around and Genevieve went back home, Karla thought about how she could fill her time that wasn't thinking about John. Yes, thinking about john was what got her in trouble in the first place. But she couldn't stop thinking about the connection between her and John. That's when she decided to zone out and just write about all of this. She must have zone out the majority of the day cause she almost didn't hear Amelia knocking on her door letting her know that there was someone downstairs for her. She didn't expect to see John as she walked down the stairs. Karla couldn't ignore Charlies look of "why is he here".

"I'm not getting my hopes up again so can you please leave?" Karla asked.
"Can we talk?" John questioned.
"Nope. I dint want to hear it. Because I just know whatever you say you will do the opposite tomorrow and possibly the rest of the week. So I'm saving us both time John." Karla stated before going back up the stairs.
Martin and Amelia both just looked there with their mouths open while Charlie smirked. Martin looked over at Charlie that gave him the indication that she has know what happened.
"I'm sorry about that. Shes usually well behaved." Amelia stated.
"Are you talking about the 2 days a month your here? Cause if that's your narrative then yes shes well behaved. That was her handling it well behaved knowing that you were watching her. She could have handled it alot worse. You haven't been here so you haven't seen how much she was went threw weather or not this guy likes her or not." Charlie stated before turning to John. "If you want my sister back in your life then show her you want her back. Because if you go to extreme lengths to show her you want her in your life and break her heart i will have no problem hurting you. Pretty sure i can get Mary, Katy and Genevieve to join in too."
"Well received Charlie. And Mrs Davis, Karla has been nothing but kind and patient with me. I can completely understand why she would act that way. I deserved it. I haven't been treating your daughter the way she deserves to be treated. I haven't had the best example to go by but that's no excuse. I do want to try better. Charlie does keep a watchfully good eye on Karla at school so i will expect nothing less of her protective side to come out during this time. I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time." John stated.
"You had no right to talk to me like that in front of a nice boy." Amelia stated once the front door had shut.
"Honey, I've been here longer than you and shes right. I've noticed that Karla hasn't been into it lately. Her grades and everything are fine but most of the time when you talk to her its like shes not fully present. Never really understood why till Karla said something. To be honest, that's the most i know. I honestly thought they were talking not him being nice then giving her the cold shoulder the next." Martin stated.
"At least he wants to make a fresh start. But if Karla doesn't want a fresh start that's up to her. No one should force her to be with someone who quite frankly doesn't know what they want either." Charlie stated.
Charlie saw the disbelieving look of her mother. She knew there was nothing to convince her to where yes John was a nice guy but he could also be very cold the next. Charlie knew that John was a nice guy and she believed that even Karla would say that. But there were also those moments according to Charlie that made you go "What is happening." Charlie decided to go upstairs and check on Karla. She hadn't expected Karla to be watching some movie on netflix.
"No i don't want to talk about it. No i will not apologize to mom. I heard what you said Charlie and thank you." Karla stated.
"Its my job." Charlie whispered that was barely audible.
Karla pat the side of the bed that is usually Charlies spot when she wanted to spend a few minutes in Karla's room. Karla also had a spot in Charlies room when Karla spent time in her room as well. Charlie laid next to Karla before seeing their father walk in.
"I'm sorry about your mother. You know how she hates when everyone is against her." Martin started.
"Then maybe she should be around more and maybe she wouldn't feel that way." Karla stated. "I love her but i just hate how we have to constantly remind her that we aren't what she thinks we are. If she was around more she probably would have met John earlier and she would probably know that things were rocky."
"If you want i can try to get more days off. I know i haven't be around that much but if it will help then i can definitely try." Amelia stated.
"Up to you. I'm just tired of people saying one thing then doing the complete opposite." Karla stated.
Charlie agreed because she had seen day in and day out how mentally exhausted Karla had become. That's just from a guy that she thinks she likes. She knows that Karla still doesn't know weather or not she likes John. Charlie definitely thinks that Karla is just tried of John saying one thing then the next day John giving her the complete cold shoulder.
"You know things will work out. Just give it time. If John really wants you in his life he will show you that he wants you in his life. Plus think that we can all agree that boys suck." Charlie stated.
"Totally." Karla spoke.
Their parents had ordered pizza which again was weird considering how much their mom wanted them to eat healthy. But they did have salad at the house so that way she could get the healthiness that she wants and the greasy food that the other people want. If Amelia did decide that she wanted to spend more time at home, Karla thought they could make dinner work. Even if it meant having to sacrifice Taco Tuesday that Karla and Charlie loved to do.
"Do you guys want to have your mom home more? She could work at the hospital in town." Martin asked.
"I want it to be her decision that she chose on her own. If she wants to be home more that should be her choice not ours. Would it be nice to have both you and mom home more often? Yes. But were not going to force either of you into decisions that neither one of you wants." Charlie stated.
"If she wants to its going to be an adjustment for all of us. We are still getting used to making sure you know what we are doing. Like going to Jasper's." Karla stated.
"Think we can all agree that we want your mom to be happy. If she wants to move back we can do it. I know that we can. As a family." Martin stated.
As Martin left, Karla looked at Charlie. They were both expecting the worse but think that this is for the best. With the possibility of them being under one roof again. Karla didn't know that it was possible to be sad yet happy at the possible change. Charlie eventually went back to her room as Karla stepped out onto the balcony on the floor the girls shared. This was also a place that Karla loved to think. Sometimes she was caught out here at the early morning hours making Charlie think that she spent the night out there. Karla hasn't yet to shake the feeling that someone was watching her from the treeline. If someone was watching her they were deep in the treeline.
"Mind if i join you?" Someone asked.
Karla turned around and saw her mom, Amelia. Karla motioned to the empty chair across from her as Amelia sat down. They both sat in silence as they both got eloped into the quietness around them.
"I really love it out here. Almost as much as Jasper's mozzarella sticks." Karla stated.
"This was part of the reason me and your dad placed an offer on the house. Before we had Charlie i use to spend every night out here. Then when i found out i was having you the calling to come back out here became stronger than it when i was pregnant with Charlie. I have always enjoyed the scenery. Especially at night." Amelia stated.
"Think dad uses the one that is attached to his office. Think that's why hes been working more from home." Karla stated.
It was true. The family did love the balconies. Even if Charlie mostly used the back porch. Sometimes Karla has caught Charlie with the kitchen window on the first floor open so that way she can hear the outside.
"I'm sorry for not being here more. I'm also sorry for how i was earlier. I guess since I'm really never here i just expected that you weren't the same person when i wasn't. I don't know if ill quit the job at the hospital but i can see if i can work less days or even go part time." Amelia stated.
"You do you. Don't go part time if it isn't going to make you happy. I know you want to be here more but think we will be fine if you wanted to stay working the 80 hours a week if that made you happy." Karla stated.
"The 80 hours a week is what made me think about working less hours. Ill see what i can do. There has to be a happy median." Amelia stated.
It was talk like these that Karla loved having her mother around. Even when it meant knowing Amelia will most likely be gone by the time both Karla and Charlie got up in the morning. It was almost like clock work when it came to Sunday night. Karla knew where she got her night owl from but it didn't help when her own mother didn't take care of herself the way a woman in her late 40s should. Karla did want to see her mother more but if she wanted to work less Karla definitely wasn't going to stop her.
"Think you should give that John guy that came over earlier another chance. He seemed genuine when he said he was sorry." Amelia stated.
"If he wants me to give him another chance then he needs to prove that he is worthy of another chance. Genevieve made me realize that I'm worth more and that i deserve better than what i have been getting from him. Its hard to say weather or not i like him when one day hes a complete gentlemen then the next day hes going around giving the cold shoulder to everyone." I spoke.
Karla didn't want to open up to her mother like this especially about someone that she didn't know if she could trust again. But if one thing was for sure, Karla knew that everything was going to work itself out. And for the better.
