When he Saves your Life

Jeff the Killer

This was your last day in the hospital after the near-death experience. Your recovery had proceeded as normal and you were ready to head home at last. Once the paperwork was finished, you leaned against Felix who had volunteered to drive you to his place. He was scared about letting you sleep alone now that the killer knew where you lived so you agreed to stay over for a few days.

Now at his place, you enjoyed some lunch, the conversation between you two turning less lively. There was only so much you two could talk about especially with the tension.

The two of you shared a meal and exchanged fun conversations. Over the days, you'd grown attached to Felix since he'd pamper you but too much attention began to make you annoyed. You missed the days you could walk around on your own and explore things at your pace. It had been nothing but constant surveillance for the past few weeks especially since he'd made the decision to care for you much longer than expected,

"I'm heading for the neighboring town for some supplies. I shouldn't be gone for more than a few hours, alright? You need anything?"

You'd been waiting for this day. Felix would make occasional trips that took almost an entire day and after waiting three weeks, you were finally able to physically do something.

You waved his comment aside and responded with a wider grin than usual. "Bring me some of their food, yeah?" He nodded in response and headed out, knowing exactly what you meant.

You watched him drive away from the window and rushed to get dressed the moment he was out of sight. There was no other force on Earth that would stop you from breathing fresh air, not even murderers! Well...

The reported cases of extreme crime had halted almost abnormally since your injury and that was a blessing. Your town was back to being peaceful, with the occasional frat party going wrong but that didn't make you nervous. You wanted out.

With a gleam in your eye and a pep in your step, you locked the front door and took in a breath of fresh air. You didn't quite know where to go but decided to visit home for some supplies or at least a sense of familiarity. You'd been away for too long and anything could've gone wrong.

While en route to your place, you hummed, taking in the sights you'd missed for too long. It was ridiculous how much Felix smothered you but none of that mattered now. You'd feel your warm bed for a few hours and then you'd be off to visit some fun places in the town.

With your doorstep in sight, you readied to stick the key in but the door opened slowly once you pushed. Every possible alarm rang in your brain, telling you to run but none of them were louder than the one welcoming you in. The curiosity was intoxicating and ever so addicting. You took a deep breath and walked in, keeping quiet while you looked around.

Everything seemed to be just as it was when you left. Maybe Felix had just forgotten to lock the door. That wasn't outside the realm of possibility. You glanced past the kitchen, noting the sink was clean, the table was somewhat clear with the exception of old dishes and a glass of cold water. Perhaps you'd let your mind jump to conclusions a little too quickly.

Your room was still as it was before, with the bloodstain on the ground, but something felt off. You couldn't tell what it was and didn't have the energy to figure it out. It had been too long since you'd set foot in this room. Sighing, you turned around.

"Hello, beautiful. I did not hear you come in."

You did not recognize this man. This man was in your house and your urge to scream had been stifled by the fact he held a gun calmly in his hands. He flicked it over to the living room and then back to you. "Would be a shame to ruin the walls so let's chat out here, shall we? Don't make me ask again." He chuckled at your meek nod.
