Prologue

15th May, Wednesday. 1:30 PM

Vanessa flung her book to the side, stretching her arms and sighing. It was a pretty normal day, and Vanessa was awfully bored. She turned to look at the boys who were minding their own businesses. Matt was scrolling through his phone, and Daniel was curled up in one of the chairs, engrossed in his book. It was a lovely day to go pranking, but where on earth was Lonz?

"Hey, cous, where's Lonz?" she asked, and Matt looked up from his phone. He looked around before shrugging. "She said she was going to the library-"

He was cut off when the door slammed open, startling all three of them out of their wits, and Lonz ran in. She shut the door behind her before falling face first on the bed, her laughter muffled by the pillows.

"Alright, what did you do now?" Matt asked, putting his phone away. Lonz turned onto her back before getting up, her grin evident on her face. "I may or may not have tried out a hex in Tweak," she laughed. Vanessa stifled a giggle and Daniel peeked at the door, half-expecting an angry Octonaut to break it down.

"So, what were you doing in the library?" Vaneesa asked, noticing the book in Lonz's hands. "I found the book we were looking for," Lonz held it up for her to see, and Vanessa literally squealed. "Oh my god yes!" she cheered, "Give yourself goosebumps by R.L. Stine!"

"Am I the only one who doesn't know those books-?" Matt muttered. "I don't know them either mate," Daniel said, and Vanessa gasped dramatically. "Oh no mister, we shall enlighten you about these masterpieces right away," she finished.

"So what are these books about?" Matt asked, gazing at the book. "Basically it's a horror-adventure story, but you're the main character here, and it's up to your choices whether you survive or not!" Vanessa said excitedly.

"Now that sounds interesting!" Matt exclaimed. "This is the book that according to Google in which we make a bet with Reggie Mayfield, isn't it?" Vanessa asked and Lonz nodded. Daniel got up from his place to come and sit beside Vanessa, watching Lonz flip through the book while Matt scooted closer to Lonz to look at the book.

Just then, out of nowhere, a portal suddenly opened up. "Wha-" Vanessa cried before everything went black.
