Also known as:
•Floor Four
•The family of cardboard figures (and we're joining it)
•Not as easy as we thought
•That time I flew: Vanessa
Lonz's POV:
"Baby booties?" I read from the list. "Huh, that doesn't sound too bad,"
"You're right," Matt agreed. "So, Floor Four?"
I nodded and Matt pressed the button to the fourth floor."Gee, I'm pretty scared of baby booties," Vanessa joked. "Ooh yes, some of them attacked me in an alleyway one day and tickled me pretty badly," I added dramatically.
We were all laughing and giggling when the elevator arrived on the fourth floor. I know this store is cursed and all, and we sort of had a life and death situation with live mannequins, but baby booties? How bad could it possibly be?
Well I was rather wrong actually, as we were about to find out.
As the elevator doors opened, we got out onto the fourth floor: the baby clothes department. That's when I saw three cardboard figures not so far away: a father, mother and baby figure. And the baby had on a little pair of slippers! Just what we needed! This was pretty easy after all!
"Van, over there," I said, tugging at her sleeve. "Great!" she grinned. "I'll go get them."
I could see she approached the figures carefully, just in case they decided to come alive like the mannequins. But they didn't seem like they would so she bent over to take off the slippers. For some reason though... I had a bad feeling...
Vanessa's POV:
I picked up the display baby to take off its slippers. Just then, I noticed it was coated in some sort of glitter. Some of it stuck to my arm, and suddenly I felt a prickly feeling making its way up my body, my breath catching in my chest.
"Van?" Matt, who had followed me asked, a little concerned. "You ok cous? You look a little pale,"
"N-no," I began, before I suddenly collapsed to the floor. It felt like something or someone was crushing me. Hard.
"Holy mother of Merlin!" Matt shrieked, horrified. "Y-You're flat! You're CARDBOARD!"
I tried to say something but my mouth wouldn't move. I lifted my arm and gazed in horror at my now flat hand. The glitter, or whatever it was, just turned me into actual cardboard!
From the corner of my eye, I could see Lonz and Daniel looking at me, just as horrified.
"Mate!" Daniel cried. "Behind you!"
It was then I noticed the mother and father figures creeping up behind Matt!
Lonz's POV:
Alright, I take back what I said about getting the baby booties being easy. This entire fricking store is cursed from the top to bottom.
I could only gape at Vanessa, she had just turned into cardboard! However, before I could say anything, I spotted the cardboard figures getting ready to attack Matt. If they got the glitter on him, he'd be cardboard too! That would be bad, very, VERY bad.
I grabbed a stuffed toy bear near me off the shelf. "Matt! Duck!" I yelled at him.
I threw the stuffed toy right at the figures as Matt ducked, toppling them over. "That's it!" he exclaimed in realisation. "They're too light! Throw all the stuffed animals at them guys!"
Daniel and I did as we were told, picking up and throwing all the stuffed animals around us at the figures. Soon we had piled up so many that were completely trapped. We did it!
"That was close..." Matt muttered. "But what about Vanessa?! She's still cardboard!"
Vanessa's POV:
I internally sighed in relief, shooting the others a 'Do something' look.
"We need to get the glitter off her," Lonz said, examining me. "It's what made her turn into cardboard."
"Maybe we could blow it off with a fan or something," Daniel suggested.
"You sure? I wouldn't fancy flying if I were Van,"
"There's quite a few table fans over there-"
"Or wash off the glitter with water?"
"She's cardboard idiot, water's gonna turn her into a pulp,"
"I mean, not exactly dip her into a bucket of water or something, I meant trying to wipe it off with a wet cloth or something-"
"Still the same thing you know,"
Are these three ever gonna finish bickering?
"So fan it is," Daniel said finally, interrupting Lonz and Matt's discussion on what water did to cardboard. "Hold on princess, we'll fix you."
A minute later, I felt the breeze of a fan lift me up in the air. I was flying! Towards a ceiling fan with SHARP METAL BLADES!
I gazed down at Daniel, Matt and Lonz who had a table fan pointing at me, staring in shock. Of course! They'll switch off the fan now and I'll be fine!
Or maybe not.
"The button's stuck!" Lonz cried, jabbing at the button. Oh no!
The air from both the fans kept flapping me back and forth. Suddenly, I felt my body return to normal. The wind had blown all the glitter off! I was normal again!
And I was also as heavy as a normal girl again.
I felt my heart stop as I plummented to the ground. I squeezed my eyes shut in terror, expecting the worst, only to be caught by a pair of arms.
"Gotcha!" Daniel cried triumphantly. It took my heart forever to beat normally again.
"Oh thank goodness you're alright Van," Lonz said in relief as she and Matt walked over to us. Daniel placed me down but had to hold me up because my feet were still shaking.
"Can we please leave this floor?" I asked. Just then, I heard Matt give a triumphant cheer. "Look what I found!"
He held up a pair of packaged baby booties and we all sighed in profound relief. Atleast we got what we wanted!
Lonz took it from him, placing it in the duffel bag. With that, we all walked back to the elevator.
Time for a new floor.
To be continued...
A/N Well, that ended up longer than I expected :/ And out of topic, but guess who's crying over Voltron AMV's? Me- Frick I need tissues please- :'( Like I barely cry over anything but here I am-
Anyway, hope you enjoyed it! Happy reading! -Vicky <3
