It had been three years since Wesley left the Enterprise. Since he was twenty years old he's been traveling and it felt good for the first year but as he went around he felt something not right inside.

Traveler had been killed in his second year and was now by himself.

He was on Mars right now thinking.

"I don't feel like myself anymore. It feels like a part of me is missing." he said then sighed and covered his face.

While he did that he saw everything he did since he was fifteen years old at Enterprise to the day he left three years ago.

'You set out on a journey that wasn't your own. Now it's time to find the path that is truly yours. Don't follow me any further.' he heard his dad say the day he resigned Starfleet.

A few minutes later he took his hands off his face and looked up.

"I don't know what to do dad. I liked traveling at first but after a year I didn't feel right. Part of me feels something is missing. What do I do?" he said.

He got no answer and sighed.

While he thought he fell asleep and saw what he had done for six years before and during Starfleet Academy break.

Back on Enterprise,

Beverly was thinking about Wesley and wondering what he was doing. She missed him so much.

"I think I'll write to him. I'm on break and haven't wrote to him in a while." she said.

Then she took a piece of paper and started to write.

Dear Wesley,

How are you doing? Are you still having fun? Things are doing fine here.

Then she stopped and thought about telling him that there was a new ensign and that she isn't doing well.

"Then he might think we need him back." she said then sighed. "I'm sure he'll understand and try to help without coming back."

A new ensign is here and not doing that well but still doing well enough for here. Everyone misses you and hope you're enjoying yourself, even Captain. Write back soon. Love,

Mom

She looked at it and nodded.

"There." she said and folded it up then set it to go to Wesley.

"I hope he understands." she said and watched it go wherever Wesley is.

Back with Wesley,

He had woken up and was now just sitting and thinking.

He had a new letter in his hand from his mom that he was going to read.

Dear Wesley,

How are you doing? Are you still having fun?

"Not as much as I started to." he said.

Things are doing fine here. A new ensign is here and not doing that well but still doing well enough for here. Everyone misses you and hope you're enjoying yourself, even Captain. Write back soon. Love,

Mom

When he finished reading the letter he thought about what she said. He missed them all and didn't know if having an OK ensign was a good thing, bad thing or a medium thing.

Then stood up and started pacing thinking.

"If they're not doing well then it's not going to work well. I have more experience after doing it for six years and not even finishing school. Maybe I should go back."

Then he stopped and sighed.

"I'll write back. One to mom and another to Captain. That way we can figure this out."

So he went and wrote to them.

Dear mom,

I'm doing fine. Just wandering around as usual. Tell everyone I said hello and miss them to. I'm sorry that the new ensign isn't doing that well. Hopefully they'll get it right. That's about it. Love,

Wesley

He read it and nodded. Then he took another paper.

Dear Captain,

Mom said you have a new ensign and they're not doing well. If you need help with anything let me know and I will gladly help you. Even if you need me to either visit or stay there and I'll help. Keep me posted on how much better they get.

Then he thought about answering it with something as a hint to tell him he would really gladly help him.

Former Ensign Crusher

Then he reread it and nodded.

"That'll do it." he said. "When he see's the name he'll see I'm not lying. And after what happened a few years ago I'm never going to lie again."

Then he put them together with one saying mom and the other saying Captain.

Then it headed to Enterprise.

"Something's telling me they need my help." he said watching the letter disappear.
