Chapter 4

The month went by and Wesley was happy. Felt good to be back at Enterprise with his mom, back to his job, and back with his friends, his family.

He would go help the engineering when they needed it like he used to.

Things had calmed down since he fixed it all and was going to talk to Picard later about going back to the Academy.

He was on his break now and was having a snack.

Data and Geordi were playing a game and everyone was standing around them.

Wesley smirked knowing Data was going to win.

"Come on Geordi, kick his but!" someone said.

Then as usual Data won.

Wesley shook his head.

"You all know he wins everything! Even I remember! He even almost always beats you at poker on weekends when he plays!" he said smiling.

"How could you forget? You were with us for six years!" Riker said smiling to.

It felt good to have Wesley back.

"After traveling in different time zones for three years it's hard to remember things sometimes. Playing with time and going into different places? Why don't you go try?"

That got them all to start laughing.

Wesley shook his and then saw that he was back on shift in a few minutes.

"See you later, I've gotta get back to work."

Then he headed to the Main Bridge while they said goodbye.

Later after dinner Wesley was on his way to Picard's quarters and going to tell him what he was thinking about doing.

When he got there he hit the chime.

"Come." Picard said so he opened the door.

"Captain." he said.

"Ensign Crusher. What did you want to talk to me about?"

"I was thinking about seeing if I could go back to the Academy and finish my last year of school and then come back and be Lieutenant Crusher here. Do you think that would be able to happen?"

"I'm sure they would let you back. You only have three months left before your graduation and I'm sure they will let you back now. You'll have to stay for six months but I'm sure you can stand that. You remember everything you were taught I'm guessing?"

"Yes sir."

"Alright, let's give them a call."

"Now?!"

Wesley was shocked at that while he watched him go to his PADD.

"Of course ensign Crusher."

So Wesley sat down and waited.

When they saw Brand answer Wesley was a little nervous but after years of practice he hid it.

"Captain Picard, Mr. Crusher. What can I do for you?" she asked.

"Ensign Crusher has come back and was wondering if he could come back and finish this year. He only had three months until graduation and remembered everything so I'm sure he'll stay for the next six months."

Brand looked to see if there was an opening and smiled.

"We have one more opening so he's welcome to come back."

They both smiled.

"Thank you sir. I'll be back tomorrow." Wesley said.

"Alright cadet Crusher. See you soon."

Then they hung up and Wesley smiled.

"Alright ensign Crusher, why don't you go get packing and I'll tell your mother?" Picard said smiling.

"Yes sir."

"Dismissed."

So they split up, Wesley went to his quarters and started packing while Picard told Beverly he was going back to the Academy.

She smiled happy he was going back to the Academy and finish school.

The next day Wesley was saying good bye to them all.

He was in his Academy uniform right now. He had his other uniform in his closet. He kept his combadge on though just in case.

"I'll see you in a few months." he said giving Beverly a hug.

She smiled and nodded.

"Work hard." she said.

"Will do."

"Ensign Crusher, I'm looking forward to seeing you as Lieutenant Crusher soon." Picard said smiling.

"I'll do my best sir." he said smiling and shaking hands then left to the Academy.
