Chapter 2
“ Riley? Riley!”
I slowly opened my eyes and I blinked a few times. I realised we were in a forest, full of orange and red autumn trees.
“ Thank god you’re awake!”
“ Where are we?”
“ I don’t actually know, but the time machine doesn’t work. I don’t know why. And something bad happenned.”
“ What is worse than the things you just said?”
“ We are like a hundred years in the past.”
“ What!”
“ Yeah… You accidentally typed some numbers when you blacked out.”
“ Oh no, this is bad.”
“ Let me help you get up.”
I looked at the machine. My merry-go-round wasn’t glowing anymore.
“ I know what the problem is! In this time, I’m not the owner of the item. Somebody else is. We’ve got to find them!”
“ That must be it. But how are we going to do this?”
“ I remember my mom saying things about the merry go round. She said that my grand grand grand grand grandma was the maid of the queen. She said that the princess, her daughter and my grandma were close, so the princess gave it to her.”
“ Remember what her name was?”
“ No, I don’t. But I know the princess’s name. Her name was Isabella.”
“ Okay, so we’ve got to find the castle.”
“ First, you have to know something. We cannot change the past. Or else the future will change.”
“ So,”
“ So, we need to dress like women in old times.”
“ Do we really need to do that?”
“ If you want to explain everyone why you have a GAP sweatshirt,”
“ Okay, fine. Where do we get the clothes?”
*
So we walked all the way to the village. There was a market area where people sold stuff. We looked around. There wasn’t anywhere that sold clothes.
“ What do we do?”
“ I don’t know. We’ll have to steal.”
“ What?”
“ See that house?” she showed me an old shack from wood. “ It has laundries hang up. We have to get some.”
“ Laundries?”
“ Yes.”
“ Damn… I knew we would have to do stuff like this.”
“ Now stop complaining and follow me.”
I didn’t open my mouth until we were at the house.
“ Now what?”
“ Watch me.”
She slowly sneaked to the laundries. She grabbed a dress and ran back to me.
“ Really? A dress?”
“ Yeah?”
I goggled my eyes and I walked to the laundries. I looked at them. They were so… old. I grabbed some black leggings and a leather jacket.
