Oh, Fuck
With the depressing pancake fail fresh on our minds, the four of us decided it'd be a better idea to order some food from a nearby breakfast place. Their pancakes were known for being amazing. Way better than any of us could ever make them. Our attempt at cooking made that very clear.
Jackson offered to pay, saying that he was sorry for bursting into my house the way he did. Chrissy, being her unapologetic self, thought it nice to spend around sixty dollars on bacon, sausages, and other items. With total disregard to the fact that she almost broke my door down when she came in. Needless to say, Jackson regretted his decision almost immediately.
"I can't believe this," Jackson muttered, looking at his now empty leather wallet.
I sat across from Chrissy, Sebastian next to me, half expecting a fly to come buzzing out of Jackson's wallet. Chrissy bit into another crunchy piece of bacon as I stuffed a small fork full of pancake into my mouth. The thick syrup coated my tongue, sweetness encasing my tastebuds.
"You shouldn't have offered to pay," Chrissy scolded through her chewing.
"I didn't think you'd squeeze me dry of any money," Jackson cried.
"That sounds like a you problem," she responded nonchalantly.
Jackson's forehead soon fell on the table out of frustration. He sighed, shoulders heaving up and down. If exhaustion was a person, it'd be Jackson. The poor guy looked beyond sick and tired of Chrissy and her antics.
"Chrissy, you should pay him back," I suggested. "You did order sixty dollars worth of food here..."
She snapped her head up to look at me, sending me a glare as she hovered over her plate. "You've also done some stupid things."
My eyebrows furrowed together, her words filling me with confusion. "What?"
She pointed at Sebastian, who looked incredibly uncomfortable. "That, right there. The entire situation that he threw you into. The one you decided was forgivable after one measly apology."
"His apology wasn't measly," I defended.
"Don't even start, Inez. You're always the one to forgive people who are outright pieces of shit." She glanced at Sebastian, emerald green eyes swirling with rage. "Exhibit A."
Jackson lifted his head at the speed of light, eyes wide and jaw flung open. He couldn't believe his ears. Sebastian stiffened beside me, filling me with an immense amount of guilt. I could tell he already felt horrible for what he did. Especially when he apologized to me after I almost kicked him out of my house.
"Chrissy, you shouldn't-"
She interrupted me before I could finish. "Shouldn't what? Speak the truth?"
