"I'm so late!" I yelled.

I was currently running out of my math class and trying my best to make it to practice. Mr. Carter gave me a lecture of a lifetime for having answered his question instead of letting the student from before do it. He went on about how it was disrespectful and embarrassing towards him, while I repeatedly had to apologize in order to even have any practice time left.

After having dashed around the corner of the hallway, my eyes landed on the door to the courtyard. That's right! It's a shortcut to the gym! I'd surely make it on time if I managed to run through there. So, that was my course of action. Make it through the courtyard, and prevent me from being too late.

My hands slammed against the heavy metal doors, pushing them to the side. A sudden blast of warm air hit me, heating my cheeks. A deep breath let me intake the smell of the various flowers in the yard. It made me smile for a moment. Until I felt a sudden object slam into the door while I was in the middle of opening it.

I screeched to a halt, hesitantly peeking my head out of the door. What I began to witness was something I could've gone my whole life without seeing. Two guys were on top of someone, in the midst of beating them up. I recognized them as Jake and Xavier from our football team. They looked towards me, pure shock on their faces. One of my brows quirked.

What was their reasoning for looking at me like that?

Then came the low, guttural groan. My body stiffened when I realized it wasn't from any of the three off to the side. I looked up to the sky and took a deep breath. I begged the lord to tell me it wasn't what I thought it was. Moving my gaze downward proved me wrong, though. My eyes widened and my lungs stopped breathing.

"Are you okay?!" I almost screamed.

I had slammed into someone with a giant steel door!

My body moved before my brain could comprehend what was fully happening. The guy was out like a light, and no amount of slapping on the cheek from me would wake him up. The other two, who I assumed were his friends, looked towards me. Sudden glares appeared in place of the wide eyes and slacked jaws.

"The fuck is wrong with you?!" Jake yelled. He sported a buzz cut and a piercing in his left ear. Along with a terrible record for beating up on innocent people. I've tried to get him to stop, but it never worked. After I reported him to the school and told his coach, he'd always managed to slip out of any situation.

"I-"

The other person, Xavier, interrupted me, almost snarling. "Watch where the fuck you're going!"

"I'm sorry- Wait a minute. Weren't you just beating that person up?" I asked in disbelief.

One of my slender fingers pointed to the guy slowly rising from the ground, which was the poor abusee. The both of them stuttered for a defense against my words. It was like watching two fish from outside of their tank. As I figured, they had nothing logical to say. It was a jumbled mess of syllables and awkward fidgeting.
