***It's been a month since the incident with Mr Kim. Your pre-finals are over. You worked hard on them, however you're still worried about your score. The result with be declared in a week, but the anticipation is unbearable.
"Are you okay?"
Turning around at Taehyung's voice, you are surprised to find him there. He tilts his head, his gaze soft and adds, "Sitting alone on the bench, huh? Need some company?"
Scrunching your nose in disgust, you look away. Bubbles of irritation forming in your stomach. He takes a sigh, doesn't seem deterred. He lowers down at the opposite corner of the bench. "Where's your bestie?" he asks, casually.
"He left early."
"And...you're still here?"
"I just...needed some space, why are you asking all this?" you ask, glancing at the leaves being ruffled by the breeze.
His eyes narrow up, but his voice stays gentle. "Hey it's okay, you don't have to raise your tone. I thought you were stressed out about your scores, am I correct?"
Taking a deep sigh, you roll your eyes away in frustration, wanting the conversation to shift somewhere else.
"Am I...making you uncomfortable?" he asked, quieter this time.
His words hang in the air, but you don't respond. Another breeze sets in, he shifts subtly, unsure of what to do next. He looks down, and takes a pause before getting up.
Just as he gets up, you break the stillness with a question that's been gnawing you for weeks. "Do you find...Mr Kim a little...strange?"
He turns his head, confused. "Strange?"
Before he can speak more, you shake your head, and speak, "Never mind." Now you're wondering why you even brought this up.
He stays frozen to hear more, but your silence was too loud, he had to walk away, leaving you alone once again. Your question about Mr Kim hangs in the air, unanswered.
~Next day~
Jungkook was walking with you, matching your steps. There was an uneasiness in the way he said he wanted to have a conversation. As your mind is still running, millions of miles away, he clears his throat bringing you back to earth. "The sunset looks pretty," he breaks the silence.
You look at your left, the beautiful sun looked like a bubble. You loved bubbles. I love bubbles too.
Grinning, you look up at him. "Yes...it looks like it's melting into the clouds." He scoffs lightly, "that's a cute way of saying that."
Taking a turn, you both stop at a park. "So...what did you wanna talk about?" you ask, softly.
He takes a deep breath, as if gathering courage to say something important. "I've been thinking about this for a while now...and I just...wanted to ask you something," he paused to look into your eyes. His eyes gleamed with hope, however also with a tiny sprinkle of vulnerability.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
Your body freezes, the loud silence envelops you two. Heart beating louder than ever, you couldn't process what you heard. "H-huh? What?," you whisper.
The glimmer of hope seems to fade a little, "I know you would be thinking that we're still young and all...but I thought about this through. Will you officially be my girlfriend?"
You still couldn't believe what you heard. You liked him, his personality, his kindness, also his muscles when he removed his oversized sweater. But this felt too sudden and overwhelming.
"I...I don't know. It's a lot to think about," you say quickly, your voice shaky. His expression started to change. You could see in his eyes he was hurt for a second, but then he masked it quickly. With a fake grin, he spoke, "It's okay. Take your time. You don't have to answer right away."
He takes a step back, giving you space. Feeling guilty, you realise that it's finally time to label things. It's your turn to decide what you really want.
The entire night felt heavy on your chest. His voice kept echoing, "will you be my girlfriend?" You tossed and turned, thinking about all the moments you spent with him and how easy it was to make him understand how you felt. Your heart wanted him, craved him more than anything. But your mind denied. You couldn't stop thinking: Was it the right time? Will you be able to commit? You wanted to think clearly, even if it meant a sleepless night.
The next morning, you texted him, "can we meet at the same park?" He quickly typed back, agreeing. In minutes, you prepared and were heading for the park. Jungkook was waiting for you at the entrance. His body rocking back and forth out of uneasiness. When he spots you, with a smile, he waves to call you.
Stepping closer, you speak, "hey!"
"Hey...I got your text," he says with a shaky voice.
"I have thought the entire night about this. At first I thought I wasn't ready for a relationship, but now I wanna go where my heart leads me."
His face lits up, without interrupting, he lets you finish.
"Jungkook...I love you. I am ready to be your girlfriend."
His eyes sparkle with affection and without a second, he lifts you up with your waist and twirls you like a princess. Your hair dancing, your face bright and smile genuine and wide. You hold his shoulder tightly for balance. his arms around your waist felt safe. Putting you down only to embrace you again, he guides you to rest your hands on his shoulder like a necklace. Rubbing your waist with his thumb, his breath was falling onto your neck. There was no gap between your pelvises. And for a moment, the world had paused, everything seemed quiet. And in that glorious moment, you silently wished to stay like that, in his cozy arms for eternity.
