A Dance

"Okay so, I know it's late but, one last surprise," Dylan says throwing an arm around my shoulder that warms my body up.

We finish up dinner and walk out of the busy restaurant. Then we walk lazily through the car park to find Dylan's car. We take our seats and I buckle my belt. I wait for Dylan to start driving but he doesn't.

"What?" I look over at him, Dylan starts to search through his glovebox.

"Aha, here you go," Dylan reaches a hand out towards me, I grab the black piece of fabric from his eyes.

I lol down at the small piece of black material, "Ooo kinky," I say winking at Dylan as I realise what it is.

"Dawson, I didn't know you were into that sort of stuff." He says sarcastically and starts to reverse out of the parking spot.

"Don't worry about putting it on just yet," Dylan says as he pulls out of the car park and on to the street.

It's a short drive to wherever we are going because Dylan's already asking me to put the eye mask on. I slip it over my head and place it on top of my eyes.

"Alright Dawson we are here," Dylan pulls back the hand break and hops out the car. It's awfully quiet around here and when I say that I mean like suspiciously quiet.

"M'lady," Dylan says as he open my car door and takes my hand in his.

His hand in mine.

In mine.

His hand and my hand.

Shit.

We walk up a few steps before making it to a front door. Dylan creeks it open and walks me through a a pitch black empty house. Well that's all I can assume it is a house hopefully not my place of death.

We walk in to another room but this time Dylan stops. He slips his warm hand out of mine and walks around behind me.

"We're not role playing are we?" I try to say seriously.

"Oh Dawson you wish," he says sighing. Then from behind me, Dylan takes the eye mask off. All I see is a pitch black room for a few seconds before a small sound starts playing from the back corner of the dark room. What in the world is going on.

The piano intro starts playing and instantly
I recognise the song.

Oh my fucking gosh.

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong
I learned how to get along
And so you're back
From outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock, I should have made you leave your key
If I'd known for one second you'd be back to bother me

Somehow out of nowhere the lights flicker on and all I can see are my idiot of friends dancing around the room. There is a very enthusiastic Maya down the back next to an equally passionate Sam. Then Damian and Sophie who look like they are fucking over it but are also loving every second.

Then best of all a very handsome, very extremely shirtless and flirty Dylan. Somewhere between taking off my eye mask and jumping in the dance line Dylan took his shirt off.

He sends a wink my way and Maya looks at me suggestively. I think back to when we came into the room and I made that comment. Oh shit that will never be put to rest as long as I live.

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
As I spent oh-so many nights just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high and you see me
Somebody new
I'm not that chained-up little person still in love with you
And you felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free
Well, now I'm saving all my lovin' for someone who's loving me

The sound is quiet and that I am grateful for, he must remember that I hate loud noises. I take a seat down on the floor finally and watch as they start to perform the last bits of their amazing performance. That they put together just for me. How long did this take? Surely they meet up outside of school for this. I lean against the wall and take in their goofy laughing and awful dance skills. They wave their legs and arms all over the place before finally coming to a stop. They give their best jazz hands as the song finishes and they're all kneeling down on one leg.

I clap my hands together and start laughing at them so hard that tears stream down my face. They all go around giving each other proud high fives. And one by on they make their own way over to me and I give them all a tight hug and pat on the back for the awesome effort they put in.

Dylan pulls me into a sweaty hug, "you were so staring at me the whole time." He whispers into my ear.

"Is it a crime to look at a hot body," I shrug back.

"Well, I for one think we all did fantastic so, round of applause go us!" Maya shouts out and they all throws their arms up in loud cheers.

"I tried to make it as quiet as possible," I nod my head in a thank you and wrap my arms around his waist again, "also a few more of your friends are coming, not many though and it's gonna be low-key no loud music," Dylan says looking at me softly, scanning my face for any sight of worry.

"That sounds perfect."
