They all head out of the school together talking about various things seeming to enjoy each others company.
It was a particularly sunny day so they decided they should stop by the corner shop to get some snacks to hopefully cool themselves down
"Soooo Amane!~ How'd you like our school so far?" Aoi asks them
"It's nice" He replies "Plus Yashiro's done a pretty good job of showing me around!"
Nene smiles widely at the compliment, isn't Amane just the sweetest?
"Watch out for Tsuchigomori-sensei and Yako-sensei though..." Akane whispers "They may seem nice now but if you pull on the wrong strings they go ballistic—"
"Especially Yako-sensei!" Aoi chirps in.
Amane giggles a bit shaking his head "Dont worry I'll be fine!~"
Nene observes her peers actions, more particularly Amane's and to her, all of this STILL doesn't make any sense...
Why would Amane need saving? I mean he looks perfectly fine! She thinks.
He's laughing and smiling along with the rest of the group so it's obvious that he wasn't the reason of his death, right?
Maybe he got into an accident? Or maybe he got murdered!
WAIT...
Does that mean Nene has to stop a murder then?
This is just way too much to handle...
"RADISH-CHAN SNAP OUT OF IT!!" Mitsuba yells bonking Nene on the head
"Owwww!!" Nene whines "I told you to stop calling me that you big bully!!"
The pink-haired boy snorts "Then stop staring into space and answer us!"
"She's been like ever since this morning" Aoi sighs, putting a hand to her face, are they really that concerned about her? They've got bigger issues like Amane dying to think about!!
Oh wait— they don't know about the letter, do they? Nene reminded herself
Keeping this all a secret was gonna be alot harder than she thought...
"You know what?" Nene starts, twirling around to face the group
Akane tilts his head "What is it? Did you forget to tie your shoelaces?"
"H-huh?" Nene looks down at her feet to see that her shoelaces are indeed untied, but that's besides the point!
"No!! Anyways, in honour of Amane joining our class I'll pay for snacks today!"
The rest of the teens all light up and already start thinking about what they're gonna buy. Nene can see the little smile Amane has on his face and it makes her feel warm inside
"As long as it's within reason, of course. I'm not buying anyone a full-on buffet!"
They continue to walk for a bit more till they arrive at the store and everyone starts to pick and chose their small snacks, with a majority of them just getting icecream
"You got...donuts?" Nene says tilting her head and he nods "Yep!! They're my favourite food!" He says with a smile
They go up to pay for their for the food or should I say they followed Nene up to the till as she paid for their food-
Anyways!!
Afterwards, they sit on the bench outside the store and exchange numbers with Amane while Mitsuba took a few pictures of them altogether, though every time they asked to see them he refused
"Yeah, Teru-nii made our whole oven go on fire and basically almost killed us," Kou says casually "Luckily I saved the day, as usual!" He grins
"I'm surprised you didn't just make it worse!" Mitsuba snickers
"I'm actually a really good cook!! Aren't I Nene-chan?" Kou asks and Nene nods
"If it wasn't for him I probably would've failed home ec mast year..." She says sheepishly
Eventually, a couple of minutes turn into an hour and the sun is already going down which indicates its probably time for everyone to make their way home
They all walk together a bit more until everyone has to start walking their separate paths to their houses
Once Nene gets home she throws herself onto her bed and lets out a dramatised sigh "Today was actually pretty fun! Even if I did end up completely broke..." Her now basically empty purse sitting on her windowsill
She flips over and unlocks her phone changing her new contact name to 'Amane!!'
Before sending him a text
𝙉𝙚𝙣𝙚: 𝙃𝙚𝙮𝙮𝙮!! 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙮𝙚𝙩? :)
After about a minute or so he replies
𝘼𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙚!!: 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙩, 𝙞 𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙤
Nene sends him a cute little gif before turning her attention to her nightstand which her letters were stored in and deciding to read tomorrows letters
October 12th

𝘔𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘱 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘦𝘤.
𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘶𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘬𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘬! 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴
Nene blinks in confusion. Her and Amane were already friends though... maybe not best friends but they hung out after school today and he obviously wouldn't have agreed if he didn't wanna come!! Had she already changed the future?
Nene decides to go to bed already excited for the day ahead of her, everythings gonna work out just fine!
...
The next day Nene arrives at school with a surprise she wasn't expecting...
Amane isn't in school today
But the letter said he was gonna be in today! They were supposed to make donuts!!
"Has anyone seen Amane today?" Nene asks and a couple of people shake their heads.
"Yeah I found it kinda strange that he isn't in school today-" Aoi mentions before taking her seat
During lunch Nene, while everyone's talking or heading to the cafeteria Nene quickly turns on her phone and checks the message she sent to Amane yesterday and is a little worried to see that it's still on delivered
The weekend passes and next thing you know it's Monday and guess what? Amane STILL hasn't shown up at school yet
After classes, Nene packs up earlier so she can catch up with his brother, Tsukasa and ask him about Amane
"Hey, Tsukasa-kun!!" She calls out and the boy turns around to the source of the sound
"Huh...? Oh!! HI TENE-CHAN!!"
She lets out a sigh
"It's...Nene-"
"Same thing!!!"
Nene rolls her eyes at his comment before speaking again "Anyways, is Amane doing okay? He hasn't been in school or replying to my messages-"
Tsukasa looks down at his feet avoiding eye contact "Amane is...Amane's not feeling well" He looks sort of sad? But his usual cheeky grin appears on his face
"He's alright though!! I'll tell him that you asked Tene-chan!" He says waving to Nene and bouncing his way out the school
Tsukasa is one strange boy...
Nene just prays that he is doing alright though and nothing bad has actually happened to him, at least not yet. It's not time—
"Ok, thanks! See you later"
