How To Save A Life (JSHK/TBHK)

Chapter 4

After exciting the school the girl still can't help but wonder if anything bad has happened to Amane and the worst thing is she can't even go check up on him because she doesn't even know his address!

Then again though he DID only move here last week, isn't it kinda weird to have someone ask for your address after only knowing them for a couple of days?

As Nene continues to walk home she spots a cat darting across the road, barely missing death and she lets out a frightened speak only for her eyes to be filled with angry honking from the driver involved in the "almost but didn't actually happen" accident

"Stupid cat!"

When did people become so rude? The cat makes its way down the path and almost immediately Nene realises the small trail of blood the cat leaves behind and she lets out a gasp
"H-hey Kitty! Wait up!" She whines but the feline just picks up their pace and begins to run into the woods. No matter how bad she wants to go home she knows she just can't leave a bleeding cat by itself.

Even if she has absolutely no experience in this what kind of person would she be if she just let it bleed to death! Okay, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement but still-

Without a second thought, Nene swings her bag over her back and follows the cat. The bristles of the bushes and trees brush against the girl's skin and she feels like she'll have a rash for days because of this.

Out of nowhere, Nene can hear someone humming some type of melody-
It sounded like a boy? Kinda like Amane!! Wait no, that IS Amane's voice!

Nene pushed a branch out of her face and runs towards the sound.
"AMANE?!" She gasps looking up at Amane who was sitting up in a tree for some reason?

"Y-YASHIR- AGH!!" A loud thump was heard as they both fell out of the tree and Nene doesn't know whether she should laugh or hell at him. Maybe both?

"W-what're you doing here?!" He asks rubbing his back sorely with a bunch of leaves scattered over his head.

"Me?!" Nene gawks "What're YOU doing here?! You just disappeared and you didn't even bother answering my texts!!"

"Sorry about that..." He says "I wasn't uh... feeling too well" Amane blows a leaf of his nose with a small chuckle while Nene is still trying to process whats happening

He realises the from him falling out of the tree his jumper sightly slid off revealing a bruise on his right arm. He realises Nene noticed this and quickly pulls on his jacket properly with an awkward laugh

"Silly me!! That's what I get for climbing up trees though-"

Lies.

"Sooo Yashiro... What're you do-"
Before he can even finish his question he gets interrupted

"How come you're wearing your school uniform if you didn't even show up at school?!" She takes a step towards the boy and crouches down to tap his tie gently with a pout.

It's obvious for anyone but Nene that Amane's face is heating up slightly seeing how close Nene is to him.

"Geez Yashiro, when did you become Mrs investigator?" He smirks, playfully booping Nene's nose making her blush like crazy

"HEY!!"

A soft giggle was heard and Amane casually throws his hands behind his head. Was he always such a tease?!
"Anyways I was planning to go back to school today but like I said I wasn't feeling too well"

That was an obvious lie.

"It's nice that you thought about me though!" He smiles, the sun complementing his golden eyes nicely

Slowly, the cat from earlier emerges from behind Nenes (oversized) ankles and Amane's smile quickly turns into a worried expression.
"What happened to him? You poor thing..." He runs over and quickly removes his tie before tying it around the cat's foot. What a sweet guy!

"He must've gotten grazed by the car on his way here. Is he yours?" The highschool girl asks.
He shakes his head. "No, I just found him around here the other day so I've been taking care of him since! His names Mokke!"

"Mokke...?"

"Mmhm!"

It's a relief to Nene to know that Amane's okay but she's still kinda confused on what he's doing here. When they walked home the other day Amane went home the other direction so what's he doing over here?!

The boy takes out a carton of milk from a rucksack beside the tree and pours out some of the milk into a paper bowl which Mokke accepted happily

"Anyways" Yashiro sticks her hand into her school bag and hands Amane some sheets of paper
"The homework you missed"

He takes the papers and replies with a small thankyou.
After a couple of moments of silence Yashiro speaks

"A-anyways I'm gonna get going now, see you later Amane!" She'll ask him more about this place another day

"Later Yashiro!"

Thankfully Amane kept his word and showed up the at school the next day to Nene's relief. Slowly over the next few days she finds herself being more and more drawn to him and she had no idea why. It wasn't like she liked him or anything! Then again this is the ultimate hopeless romantic herself so maybe that claim wouldn't be too far off?

Its another day and once again Nene takes out her handy guide to help get her through the day, she felt kinda lucky knowing she had her own personal cheat to life but when she remembers why she got it in the first place all of a sudden its not so fun-
