once they'd arrived at the coffee shop, there was hardly anyone in it.
"hi ashton! is this a new lady friend of yours?" the chirpy woman asked with a smug look on her face from behind the counter. she was mid 40s with blonde hair tied up in a bun. molly blushed and looked at the ground.
"n-no she's just a friend, sarah." he stuttered and awkwardly laughed at the woman who had the look of 'don't think i don't know' on her face.
"okay lover boy, now what can i get you?"
ashton turned even more pink than he was and turned to molly.
"do you like coffee?" she slowly nodded and he turned around again to face sarah.
"we'll have two coffees and two brownies" he smiled, setting the money on the counter.
"this ones on the house, i'll bring it down to you, kid." she winked and smiled.
molly and ashton both smiled and walked down to the vacant table beside the window, which ashton described as "the best in the house".
"anymore questions you would like me to answer?" ashton said to molly who was now sat facing him.
she thought about it and asked the usuals.
"favourite colour?"
"green"
"any siblings?"
"yeah, a sister named lauren and a brother named harry. they're both younger."
there was a short pause as molly was thinking what to say as the next question.
"i have one for you, molly." ashton said, interrupting her thought pattern. she zoned out and looked at ashton, who was playing with his hands, seeming nervous.
"okay, go on ahead?"
he pushed his glasses further up his face as he looked at her.
"can i have your number?"
molly looked at him and chuckled, nodding and pulling out her phone.
"put it in, then text your phone so you'll get mine." she watched his long fingers typing into the small looking device and smiling at the same time.
he handed her back her phone to see he'd saved his contact as "ash".
she looked at him and smiled. genuinely smiled.
