"how much time have you got?"
ashton pressed the unlock button on his phone and looked at the time, making it look like he had plans, but in reality, he didn't. 10:27 am.
"i have all day, cutie." molly's cheeks tinted a slight pink colour as the word 'cutie' left ashton's mouth.
"okay, if you want to listen you're welcome to do so and if you don't then you're also welcome to do so." she turned her head to ashton and waited for his response.
"of course i'll be listening, continue."
she inhaled a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
"okay, here goes. this isn't your usual sob story so please don't think i'm trying to make you feel sorry for me. basically, when i was younger, i thought we were a happy family. it was just my mum, dad and i and everything seemed okay. then on my sixth birthday, my dad sort of... changed. he always went out to work and dropped me off at school, without even crossing the busy road with me or giving me a goodbye kiss or anything. i mean his only daughter- child for that matter! anyway, when he got home, he'd always have had more than enough drinks with his friends and take it out on my mum." a tear streamed down molly's face and as ashton lifted his hand up to wipe it away, she flinched.
"i'm not going to hurt you, i promise."
she slowly nodded as he brought his soft hands up to her cheek and wiped away the tear.
"do you want to continue or would you like to stop?" ashton asked her, he knew exactly how she was feeling and he didn't want her to feel pressured into telling him about her.
"i'm okay, i'll tell you."
