A kick to the back of my seat jolted me out of my daydream.

I whipped my head around to find the culprit. Of course. The devil himself.

Deciding to not even entertain Nathan's antics, I turned back around and pretended to be very interested in my english teacher's lecture.

Until I felt another kick to my seat.

"What's your problem?" I hissed, turning around to face him.

He just gave me his signature smirk and feigned a look of innocence.

I gave him my dirtiest look and turned back around.

"Someone's grumpy today!" Nathan whispered in my ear, his face only centimeters from mine.

"Nope! Something about you just brings out the worst in me," I said.

He placed his hand over his heart, "That hurt, sweetheart."

Sweetheart? Ew. I snorted and scrunched my nose up in disgust.

"You know what you did," I said with a stoic look on my face.

"You know, if you were hoping I'd get you a new ice cream cone, you could've just asked," he winked.

"Knowing you, you'd probably just poison it."

"Do you really think so little of me?" Nathan asked with a spark of evil in his eyes.

I narrowed my eyes at him and gave him a curt nod.

Nathan laughed and leaned back in his seat.

Just when I thought he was done bothering me, I felt a hand pull my hair. I kicked the leg of his desk behind me, but immediately regretted it. The noise it made was much louder than I was anticipating, and caught the attention of the entire class.

My head fell in embarrassment. To cover my mistake, I pretended to look for where the noise came from with the rest of my class.

Nathan laughed at that. "Excuse me," he said a little too loud, "aren't you going to apologize for rudely kicking my desk?"

Oh, my god. He is a dead man. He'd be lucky if I didn't go all #37 on him.

I whipped my head around and gave him a murderous stare, to which he just laughed at.

"Vienna? Nathan? Is your conversation more important than my lecture?" my teacher said with a serious tone.

Great, now he's going to get me in trouble.

At the same time that I said "No," Nathan said, "Yes."

My eyes widened and I turned to give him a look of disbelief. What is wrong with him?

The teacher's anger grew and she gave him a stern look, "Fine. Then maybe the two of you will enjoy lunch detention."

My heart dropped at that. I've never had detention before, and I wasn't exactly planning on changing that.

Luckily the bell rang, saving me from any further embarrassment. I gave Nathan a look as to say You're a dead man and rushed to my locker.

I turned the corner to see the man of the hour already leaning against my locker. How the hell did he get there before me?

I stopped in front of him and gave him a pointed look, "You're in front of my locker."

"Am I?" he smiled innocently.

I rolled my eyes and pushed past him. I opened my locker and started putting things, hoping he'd get the hint and leave.

He was oblivious and continued talking. "Ready to go, detention buddy?" he chirped happily.

Of course he was happy. Because only he would be sick enough to take pleasure from my misery.

I was too busy contemplating whether I should kick him in the leg or the crotch to respond. On one hand, we're in school so a kick to the leg would draw less attention. But, on the other hand, a kick to the crotch would be more painful and bring me more joy.

"You awake over there?" Nathan interrupted my scheming and waved his hand in front of my face.

I sent him an evil smile to which he furrowed his eyebrows. "Daydreaming about me?" he asked and wiggled his brows.

"You wish," I snorted. "Let's get this over with." I slammed my locker shut and headed to the detention room.

I didn't bother to check if Nathan followed me, but I wouldn't complain if he hadn't.

I guess I was the first one there because when I walked in, the room was empty. I took a seat in the back and rested my head on the desk.

A little nap couldn't hurt. I just hope that the teacher doesn't actually make us do work.

Right as I was starting to nod off, I felt something poke my arm. I peeked my eyes open and saw Nathan's smiling face hovering over mine.

"I'm sleeping," I mumbled and closed my eyes again.

Another poke. Ignore him, Vienna.

He started poking me repeatedly like the annoying six year old he is.

"What," I groaned, exasperated.

"Teacher's gone. Let's go get lunch," Nathan said.

"He'll probably be back any second," I countered.

"Trust me, I've been in detention with him before and he never comes back," he reassured.

Why am I not surprised he's been in detention before.

"Why would I even want to go anywhere with you," I said and shut my eyes again, deciding not to risk it.

"Because I'm paying."

I popped my eyes open and gave him a once over, considering his offer.

"Fine," I huffed.

Nathan stood and offered his hand to help me stand. I gave his hand a look of disgust and stood on my own.

"I'm only agreeing because of the free food," I said sternly.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night," Nathan smirked.
