The beach breeze blew away the white chiffon curtains of the dinner tent, the candle flame swayed with every breeze until it was blown off. Gong Jun cuddled Zhehan as they sat on the sand, listening to the sound of the beach waves and watching the moon spreading silver glitters over the seawater.
"Are you cold?" Zhehan asked Gong Jun.
"I'm not. Are you?" He hugged him tighter, shielding him from the wind.
"Junjun..." Zhehan leaned back, nuzzling back against Gong Jun's body, "This is nice..."
"It is." Gong Jun smelled his hair, and kiss his crown, "I never had a date like this before..."
"The only dates I had were in dramas." Zhehan admitted, "You're my reality."
"Do you know why I brought you here?" Gong Jun asked.
"Why?"
"Do you not know what day it is...?"
"Today? May 20th?" Zhehan asked, genuinely oblivious of its importance.
"It's 520." Gong Jun reminded him.
"Oh!" Zhehan looked back at him guiltily, "you know I have deactivated all my social media and I barely check my phone..." He desperately explained, "I'm sorry Junjun... I-"
"It's fine." Gong Jun wasn't angry, he was understanding, "we love each other every day, we don't really need a special day to celebrate it... I just wanted to bring you here so we could have a nice time, the day doesn't really matter." He caressed his face and leaned in, kissing him gently on the lips; one kiss, two kisses, three. "I brought you something." He spoke against his lips and reached his hand back to the chair behind them.
"You even got me a gift?" Zhehan blushed and looked down, "why do you always surprise me like this..."
"Because I love to see your surprised face." Gong Jun gave Zhehan a box wrapped in a blue sparkly wrap "Come on, open it."
"Junjun..." Zhehan smiled at him, "you always get me a lot of nice gifts..." He hesitated before opening it. "But I feel like I never get you anything..."
Gong Jun ran his fingers through Zhehan's hair, pushing it away from his face, "I have you, that's enough."
"You always say that."
"I mean it." He rested his forehead on his, "you're all I want, you loving me, staying with me, is the best gift you could give me."
"You changed me Junjun." Zhehan told him, "you make me want to be gentle, to be soft and tender... I never cared about anyone until you appeared in my life." He hugged him, "You make me a better version of myself, I can't imagine my life without you."
"You're all I need, the reason of my strength." Gong Jun said, "I always feel safe and strong whenever you're with me... I don't want a life if you're not in it." He whispered. "I am grateful that you love me too, I can't live without you loving me."
"Ever since I laid my eyes on you... I have loved you."
Gong Jun pulled back and stood up, he pointed at the box, "open it."
Zhehan looked up at him and finally gave in, unwrapping the box to reveal a mug, just like the one he had broken before. This one also had a Wen Kexing illustration at the side. "Junjun... you got me a new one..."
"Mine needs his soulmate." Gong Jun walked few steps forward and Zhehan put the cup back in the box, following him to where he stood.
"Where are you going?" Zhehan asked, a bit confused.
"Hanhan..." Gong Jun stood with his back to Zhehan; he reached his hand inside his pocket and pulled out something, making sure Zhehan couldn't see it. "If I ask you now to marry me, what will you say?"
"What?" Zhehan blurted, "why are you asking me this? Are you joking?" I would say yes and a million times yes. "Do not joke like this."
Gong Jun's heart pounded at Zhehan's hesitation. "What would you say?"
"I- I don't know..." Zhehan faltered, he was blushing and sweating nervously.
Gong Jun decided to go along with his plan, no matter what Zhehan's reaction would be. Within a split second, he turned around and went down on one knee, holding up a ring, "Zhang Zhehan." He called and Zhehan's eyes widened with disbelief, "You must marry me or I'll sulk." And that's how he proposed.
Zhehan stepped backward then forward, hands on his mouth, losing words the more he looked at Gong Jun's current position, "I-..." He swallowed and blinked, "I-..." He blushed nervously, his heart fluttering.
"What? Hanhan~~~" Gong Jun pouted, still on one knee with his hands up.
"Yes!" Zhehan finally threw himself into Gong Jun's arms, "Yes! Don't sulk, if you sulk I'll marry you twice!" He giggled joyfully.
Gong Jun laughed and slipped the ring onto his finger, showing him his own hand, "I've already worn mine." He grabbed his chin and kissed him, "You're mine now. You can't escape."
"Oh yeah?" Zhehan taunted, "Watch me!" He suddenly broke free and ran away towards the water, "catch me and I'll marry you tomorrow!"
"Do not challenge me, laopo!"
"Who's your laopo?" Zhehan splashed him with water.
They splashed each other with water, tasting the the saltiness and enduring the coldness of it, yet they didn't seem to care. They hugged and kissed and laughed and kissed again; they chased each other like teenagers, happily, freely, like they cared about nothing except falling in love, like they cared about no one except each other.
They were by the sea, floating on bliss and sinking deep, deep, deep in love.
