A New Friend

For the next couple of weeks you explored Morioh and got to grips with your new job at the local ice cream parlour. It was a simple job, but that's why you'd wanted it in the first place. You had convinced yourself that using up too much brain power at work would hinder your performance at university, but maybe you'd also just wanted to do something easy in the first place. You were a pretty sociable person by nature (albeit a little awkward to start with) so you enjoyed meeting your customers and getting to know some of the regulars.

The 'regulars' included a couple of interesting young men. Both tall and quite muscular, they had caught your eye on the first occasion they entered the parlour since you started working there. You had seemingly caught their eye too, considering the fact that they had both given you interested glances, one of them even giving you a proper look up and down. This, of course, embarrassed you to no end and made you blush from your toes to the ends of your hair. The young man with the pompadour haircut looked as though he noticed your embarrassment. He smirked, but not in a mean way. They left shortly after that, your colleague having served them their ice creams.

Your university seminars and lectures occured predominantly in the mornings, which meant you could go to your classes before work each day, then do your coursework in the evenings. You'd be busy almost every day, but you didn't consider this to be a bad thing. The only downside was that you'd started to think you'd rather be at work than university, just on the off-chance you might see the two interesting men again.

Once you'd settled into your university classes (not without difficulty, considering you were in a new country and were obviously the dreaded foreigner), you began to relax a little and allowed yourself to consider making friends with some of your classmates. One person stood out to you for some reason. His name was Koichi Hirose. He was a little shorter than average but still quite muscular. He stood out to you perhaps because he always had interesting answers to questions in your seminars.

Mid morning on a Wednesday, Koichi Hirose introduced himself to you. Your lecturer had given your class a short break, and Koichi had seen this as an opportunity to make a new friend. You were grateful that he was brave enough to be the one to start the conversation. You got on well immediately, not because you shared many things in common, but because your personalities were very similar. Soon you started sitting together in your lectures, and eventually you became study-buddies. Koichi Hirose became the first friend you made in Morioh.

"Hey, Y/N," Koichi said, grabbing your attention from your coursework one Friday evening.

"Yes, Koichi?"

"A couple of friends and I are planning on going out tomorrow afternoon, probably just to grab a few drinks and sit in the garden if the weather is nice. I was wondering if you'd like to come? You don't have to of course..." he trailed off.

You considered your options briefly. Sit at home, most likely alone, bored out of your tired mind, or go and have a nice chilled afternoon and potentially make some new friends?

"I'd actually love to come," you said. Koichi's face lit up.

"Brilliant! I'll let the other two know," he said, reaching for his phone from his jacket pocket.

"Who are the 'other two'?" you asked.

"My best friends! We met when we were in highschool. Josuke Higashikata and Okuyasu Nijimura."

You just nodded. Obviously those names didn't ring any bells - you literally had one friend and he was sat in front of you.

"Well, I look forward to meeting them," you said. You meant it as well.

Hey! I hope this chapter comes across a little more cheerfully ☺️ I don't want this to be a depressed reader fic.
This chapter is a little longer than the last.... do we prefer shorter or longer chapters? I'm asking a lot of questions but I think I'm just nervous 😅
I hope my story is easy to read so far!
