Kira Yoshikage's POV
As I undressed and got ready for bed, my mind wondered back to the person that bumped into me outside the shop earlier in the day.
I walked over to my desk and picked up my nail clippers. My fingernails had been growing more and more rapidly each day. That wasn't good. Not if I wanted to maintain my disguise. I was very aware of the fact that I needed to keep my head down low for the time being, but the way that person's hand looked as they gripped onto their shopping bag had filled me with a familiar sense of desperation. The way they had held their hands up to me as they had apologised was incredibly difficult to forget. I predicted I would have a restless night ahead of me.
Y/N's POV
You woke up on the Sunday morning with a slight headache, but nothing major. Pretty good, you thought, for the morning after your first (legal) drinks.
You lay in bed thinking about the events of the night previous, happy conversations with Koichi, Josuke and Okuyasu running through your mind. Some of it was a little hazy but you thought you remembered most of it. You certainly remembered the way Josuke had looked at you more and more frequently as the night progressed. You blushed.
"What's wrong with me?" you muttered to yourself. You weren't usually the sort to get flustered around boys, or anyone for that matter. That being said, you hadn't minded how Josuke had been looking at you. In fact, you thought to yourself that you rather liked it.
You wondered when you would get the opportunity to see both Josuke and Okuyasu again. You knew you would see Koichi at uni tomorrow, but you didn't want to impose upon their little friends group too much. It was nice that Koichi had invited you along in the first place.
You got up and went downstairs for a glass of water and some painkillers for your headache, pleased that you had decided to get a headstart on your coursework the day before. You thought that maybe you would spend the morning doing a little more exploring of Morioh, seeing as you didn't have work until the afternoon and the weather was nice and warm.
Once you had showered and dressed, you head out into the peaceful town you now considered your home. It was easier to consider somewhere 'home' when you had a friend or two to share it with.
Soon it was time for work. You ate lunch at home and got to the ice cream parlour with a few minutes to spare before the start of your shift. As you had internally predicted, the parlour was pretty busy due to the nice weather. You got straight to serving customers their orders of mint chocolate chip and raspberry ripple ice creams and chatted briefly with some of the more regular customers. About three hours into your shift, a couple of familiar faces entered the store.
"Y/N!" Okuyasu called across the counter.
"Okuyasu! Josuke! Fancy seeing you two here!" you joked playfully. Okuyasu beamed at you.
"I see you didn't wake up with a horrendous hangover this morning," Josuke remarked.
"No," you said. "And it's a good thing too, really. It would have been pretty pathetic of me after a couple of ciders don't you think?"
The three of you chatted for a couple of minutes before your supervisor cleared their throat and looked pointedly in your direction.
"Hey, I get my break in about ten minutes, so let me get your orders and I'll come and sit with you when I can," you suggested.
"Sounds good to me!" Okuyasu exclaimed. You took their orders and they took up a booth whilst they waited for you. Eventually, someone took over your position behind the counter and you slid into the booth next to Josuke. You noticed Josuke looked rather pleased with this development.
"You two up to anything exciting today?" you asked. Okuyasu glanced at Josuke with a strange look on his face, but he quickly rearranged his features to look more natural when he saw you looking at him. You looked at Josuke, who smiled stiffly and said no, they hadn't been up to much at all.
You weren't the sort of person that poked their nose into other people's business as a general rule, so even though you got the impression they might be trying to hide something from you, you let it drop. None of your business really if they didn't want to tell you something.
"What are you doing on Friday?" Okuyasu asked you.
"I have a lecture in the morning but nothing much after that. It's my day off from here," you said. You had some studying to do but that could wait if there was a better offer on the table.
"There's going to be a fair arriving this weekend and Josuke and I were planning on going. Do you think you'd want to come? We're going to invite Koichi too."
You smiled. "I'd love to! I haven't been to a fair since I was a kid." You thought back to the fair grounds from your childhood, the rickety rides and the sweet smell of candyfloss in the air. It filled you with nostalgia.
"Great!" Okuyasu declared. It was a done deal then. Now you had something to look forward to.
The rest of the week disappeared quickly. You found yourself caught up in a routine. You'd go to uni, go to work, walk home, do some coursework and go to bed, ready to do it all again the next day. Not very interesting but it meant that before you knew it, it was Thursday evening.
You had decided to go to the campus library to fetch some reading material after work that day. It had started to get a bit dark outside, but the cool air was nice on your face after a busy day. About three streets away from your house you suddenly stopped walking. You don't know what made you do it, but you slowly looked around you, back up the street you'd just come down. The strange feeling of being watched had been following you since you left the library. You hadn't figured out until then that the hair's standing up on the back of your neck were a warning.
You couldn't see anything as you looked all around you. There was very light foot traffic on the pathways, but none of the people around you seemed to present any kind of threat. You started walking again, a little bit faster than before, eager to get home. As you opened your front door, you looked around once more. Again, you didn't see anything out of the ordinary. "Must be my imagination," you thought to yourself. After all, you had had a long day and were pretty tired. You closed the front door and went up to your room to ready yourself for bed.
Kira Yoshikage watched you from afar.
