Ladybug's voice was shaky when she said, "Thanks for the help, Luka." Her hand held out.

Luka smiled as he removed the Miraculous from his arm, "Consider it a favor for what I did as Truth."

Chat Noir almost gasped when he saw his civilian form. His hair which was once a vibrant blue at its tips was now a dull black, his bangs falling lazily on his forehead. He sported a black hoodie rather than his Jagged Stone T-Shirt that he always seemed to have on and his dark circles seemed to be the only vibrant color on his face.

He had made a joke but his tone was still dreary as if all the life that had always come from his voice had just vanished. As Adrien, he knew Luka had been going through a lot in the past couple of weeks, with the breakup and his father... but it still stung his heart to see him this way.

Ladybug winced slightly as he held out the Miraculous, she grabbed it but wouldn't remove her hand from his, looking at his face.

After a few seconds, he awkwardly placed a hand in his pocket, "Alright well," He backed away, "If you guys need me again just stop by."

She took his arm, "Are you okay?" She pulled him in, her voice raspy, "Please tell me you're okay. Please."

Chat placed his arms on her shoulders, pulling her away gently, "Ladybug?" He already felt the awkward tension between the three of them rising, and he didn't want to let it continue.

She seemed to snap out of it, "Agh," She brought a hand to her forehead, "S-sorry, Luka."

Still looking uncomfortable, he forced a smile, "It's fine." And just like that the smile was gone, as he shoved his hands in his pockets, ready to return to that dark place he'd been in for weeks.

When Ladybug told him that her first act as guardian would be to let him see and decide who to give Miraculouses to, he was ecstatic. But this time she hadn't said anything, just handed Luka the Miraculous no questions asked when they needed a little extra help. Right then he wished he hadn't known who weld the Snake Miraculous.

She was still looking at him as he walked away.

Chat gently spun her around to face him, "Hey?"

"Sorry."

"What happened?" He assumed it was just a case of her getting slowly attached to him after giving him the Snake Miraculous so many times before.

"I think..." She winced again, looking back at the boat, "It was just hard to see him like that. It's not like him."

No kidding.

She shook her head, "If I had known I wouldn't've--"

"I know. It's okay, I just..."

Her bluebell eyes stared into his.

He sighed, "I just want to make sure you're okay?"

She sharply sighed and removed his hands from her shoulders, "God, you're so dramatic. I'm doing fine." She began to walk away.

"Ladybug," He took hold of her hand, desperate, "Please. I want to help."

She looked at him, only for a second, her eyes glossy and her thin eyebrows furrowed like she was conflicted. But she swiped her hand away, almost instantaneously, "I'm fine. Please just leave it alone." She frowned, "It's not like I could tell you anything anyway."

Her voice seemed to gain an edge when she said that, sudden anger flushing her pretty face, "What?" He asked innocently.

"Nothing." She was obviously done talking, "See you soon, Kitty." And then she was gone.
