Brown eyes fluttered open as Dora turned towards Tim, seeing him already awake. He was sitting on the bed, his head rested back and eyes trained onto a file in his hand. The curtains had been pulled open from the window close to him so sunlight lit up the room partially.
The golden rays engulfed Tim, reflecting off of the spectacles balanced on his nose, and to Dora he seemed no different than an ethereal vision.
However, it also brought to view countless thin slashes on his arms and neck, she knew very well those slashes covered his entire body though most of the slashes were concealed right then by the white vest he wore on top of his pajamas.
Dora knew if she were to hold her arm up in the sunlight, similar slashes would be visible on her skin too, because both had suffered the same due to Shadow Walker's ability to wrap up his victims in dark tendrils and suck the blood out by piercing their skin.
Then there were a few scars on him that were not very old, the dents on the skin faintly reddish as compared to the otherwise pale complexion even then; such as the scar underneath his left eye, a gash on the back of his neck and one on his collarbone.
He must have realized that she had woken up feeling her gaze on him, because he closed the file and placed it aside as striking blue connected with her brown irises.
"Good morning," he mumbled, voice still a bit slurred and his hair sunlit yet messy, making him look twice more adorable.
A lovely smile crept over her features, "Good morning... Y'know I get what you meant to say last night. Waking up every day to this sight doesn't sound bad at all."
A smile flickered on his face as he took off the spectacles, placing it on top of the file at the bedside table.
"Likewise," he replied, hand gently cupping her cheek as he bent down to kiss her.
But before he could let go, her wrists had crossed at the back of his neck, pulling him down as she deepened the kiss. A while passed like that until she sat up and stretched, sunlight partially engulfing her.
The golden rays lit up the side of her face, her wavy cappuccino shaded hair and travelled down to the lovebites standing out on the light skin of her neck and the curve of her shoulder.
She asked and his gaze that was locked upon the marks on her neck shifted up to look in her eyes, "how long have you been awake though?"
"From dawn, I guess?"
"Why?"
"Couldn't sleep," he replied, not telling her the actual reason to how he had been woken up so early.
He had a feeling that it was better if she didn't find out however, Dora had noticed the slight flicker in his eyes and knew he was hiding something.
She raised an eyebrow skeptically, "really?"
Tim nodded with a reassuring smile, "yup. Nothing to worry about."
Though he knew exactly how much he had to worry about if Richard had lied to him about Jay not being there in his room early that morning.
"Come on get up, we're getting late for breakfast," she spoke up, taking her bag from the sofa and headed to the bathroom.
Tim's good mood evaporated instantly upon hearing the word breakfast because even if Richard had told him the truth about Jay not being in his room back then, still he knew there was a high chance that Jason and the others were not going to let him hear the end of it.
"Can we not....?"
She paused, turning to look at him in surprise, "why?"
"Nothing," he shook his head but before he could elaborate, the door knocked so he gestured her to freshen up while he got up and headed towards the door.
