It was just another day or so he thought.
Jungkook had woken up with a weird feeling. Something in the air just felt and smelt wrong. Maybe it was his heightened senses or the instincts of his wolf, but it unsettled him. He did his best not to alarm Jimin, but he was on edge, on the lookout for the cause and when it finally showed up on his doorstep, he was prepared for the worst. Jungkook was sitting cross legged on the living room floor, watching as Hwan tried to copy the drawing, he'd done of Jimin the other day. Making sure to praise his son for his efforts when he looked up at him for approval on his progress so far. It wasn't bad for a two-year-old, he would admit that. Jimin was in the kitchen, the smell of lunch filled their house. It was a nice, peaceful afternoon. A harsh knock to the front door, the unsettled noises of their animals outside and Jungkook felt his wolf suddenly become very alert. Another impatient knock and Jimin emerged from the kitchen.
"Coming! One moment please!" Jimin said, frowning at who that could be as he wiped his hands on his apron, having just washed them.
Jungkook kept his eyes on Jimin as he walked to the door, Hwan sitting up from his laid position on the floor as he watched Jimin as well. Jimin opened the front door, leaving on the screen door between himself and their visitors. Visitors dressed in full military uniforms and looking anything but friendly. Jimin's brows furrowed as he glanced between the two men at the door.
"Yes? Can I help you?" Jimin asked.
The taller of the two men stepped forward.
"Good afternoon citizen, we are part of the first division of the military. We are looking for able bodied adults to fulfill a mandate for service." The soldier spoke in a stern and monotone voice as he looked Jimin over with no shame. "Please state your second gender and occupation."
Jimin frowned, he recalled this scene from before when they came and drafted Jungkook. Every so often the military would go through town and do this. Since they were a border town, often they had new residents coming and going and some were seeking a safe place to hide, mostly humans and others to escape military service.
"My name is Park – Jeon Jimin, I'm an Omega and I am the assistant physician to our town Doctor Kim Namjoon." Jimin said, turning and grabbing his badge off the hook by the door since they always needed proof.
The soldier snatched it and examined the badge before handing it back, he looked past Jimin and into the house as he spotted Jungkook and Hwan.
"And you?" The soldier asked, nodding to Jungkook as he walked forward, now holding Hwan in his arms as he saluted with his free hand.
"Former Major Park – Jeon Jungkook, I was recently discharged from duty due to an injury sir." Jungkook said.
The soldier's eyes widened a little in recognition as the other soldier and himself saluted back.
"Ah, Major. I've heard about you, you did a hell of a job, it was a shame what happened to you and your squad. I'm sorry we disturbed you and your family." The soldier said as he nodded to them before they turned to return to the truck waiting for them.
Jimin watched them until they were gone, and he sighed, shaking his head before he looked up at Jungkook.
"Are you okay baby?" Jimin asked.
Jungkook finally tore his eyes away from the road as he looked down at Jimin and forced a smile as he nodded.
"Yeah. I guess I will have to get used to hearing that." Jungkook said, being reminded of his failure constantly was a blow but he was trying to remember what his therapist told him about letting go of things out of one's control.
