I was waiting in the library of the school for Alexis to finish her after school detention, I wouldn't have to wait much longer though because her detention was shorter than Courtney's who had extra for her, ''inappropriate'' language.
All the buses had already left so the only people in the school now were some teachers and after school clubs like chess and volleyball
I pulled out my phone to check the time and it read 5:47, another 30 minutes until Alexis gets out. Since I had time I decided to walk around, maybe read something.
Our library is pretty big so most of the shelves on the higher levels are empty since the school doesn't put much funding into the reading program. I make my way to the adventure section where the books are always in the wrong places
I take my time carefully placing them in the right corners, and going back and forth from place to place putting different genres in they're correct shelves.
Right as I'm almost done with my work, I pick up a book with a familiar cover. Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, I run my fingers over the cover of the book reminiscing in my memories. When I was younger I used to read all of the older novels feeling like I could relate to Carmen since we were both orphans and have a love of traveling the world, I've been to Paris, London, Holland, Florida and on my 7th birthday the Carpenters took all of us to Kenya where I'm from.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and jumped up from my kneeling position I turned around to see Alexis smiling at me
''You done yet''? She questioned, ''Yea I guess'' I placed the book on the shelf and we walked out of the library out to the front where Mr and Mrs Carpenter where waiting.
We hopped into the car and sped away
...
I should've checked out that book
