Unfortunately he'd previously disposed of my cellular device by flushing the SIM down the toilet and placing the mobile under the wheel of his over-priced jeep. It was a 1980's model and had more rust than paint. It needed a new set of tires and the seats were in need of some love. As a gift for his I had paid $5,000. He had his heart set on it and named it "Julianna" after my Aunt. Now, I see that purchase was a waste of my college fund.

I figured my chances of getting out of tonight were pretty slim so I kept my position in the tree. If I was going to die, I'd rather not have ran a distance. I heard a twig snap and then  "Come on out baby. I'm so lonely without you." He was probably only 20 feet away. It was almost as if I could feel his breath, hear his heart beat, see the sweat on his pale forehead... but I couldn't. I could only feel the cool nipping and my nose and fingertips. The only thing I could hear was the leaves rustling and the faint footsteps of this work boots getting closer. My sight was limited to what the moonlight allowed me to see.
